East Coast at Star Spangled 4th of July Bash

Considering ourselves a Rock & Roll band with some blue collar sensibilities, the East Coasters were still curious and excited to perform in Bridgehampton for what was anticipated to be an 'A' list 4th of July event. With musical performances arranged by EC baritone saxophonist (and ladies man) extrordinaire Alex Harding, the party turned out to be a wild, 'Page Six' event! We knew something was up when we spied Martha Stewart sampling the guacamole with Jon Bon Jovi next in line.
From the New York Post (7/7/08):
'In Bridgehampton, Hollywood mogul Sandy Gallin was throwing a wacky bash at his sprawling estate, where Russel Simmons, Matthew Broderick, Brooke Shields, Matt Lauer, Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi and Richard Gere all partied until the wee hours.' ...'They were serving strange brownies'...'Half the people were wrecked'.
Darn, we thought it was just the fresh air and our music that was making the people go wild! We can't verify that anything was up with the brownies but we can attest to the sweet aroma that permeated the area later in the evening (morning).
We'd like to give kudo's to Alex for being the musical 'designer/director' for the evening and for giving Bon Jovi what can best be described as a saxophone 'lap dance'. A true jazz guy, Alex mistook him for a girl...
Seriously, the event started with some fine jazz from Alex and his buddy Walt Szymanski's sextet, featuring Grammy nominated Carla Cook on vocals. They certainly set a sophisticated and elegant tone and the musicianship had the rest of us 'players' wide eyed.
Alex and Sandy Gallin conspired to create that 'anything goes' New Orleans roots vibe by musically moving to Ric Frank's Jambalaya Brass Band for the next segment. The East Coast horn section (Steve, Justin, Alex, and Paul) joined in for an hour long 'Second Line' performance.
Wilkipedia: Second Line
East Coast brought the party home with dancing until dawn (actually until it started raining). The guests who were left were staggering anyway and God was probably saying 'enough is enough'.
We are still looking for Alex 'Junkyard Dog' Harding who was last seen entering Martha Stewart's limo...please call 516-555.6950 if anyone has any information.
