Hot - Denise & Joseph
Sep 25 2008 3:11PM

I’m sure a few of us have patiently awaited Denise & Joe’s wedding for a while, especially the ladies of LIWeddings.com. Denise, an avid poster, resource to all, an adviser to many finally had her dream wedding come to fruition on Saturday May 17, 2008.

I’m sure everyone will agree that both bride and groom looked absolutely stunning! Teal Manolo Blahnik’s adorned her peds, golden locks set in place with flawless makeup (thanks to the Pedala sisters), and a stunning Kenneth Pool dress completed the look.

“Surreal” she said, was the feeling she had when they exchanged vows and realized it was all really happening. After the emotional ceremony, the bride/groom and bridal party headed to Long Island City for these amazing shots by a great favorite of mine, Angelica Glass.

In addition to Angelica working her magic, Adam and his crew from Pennylane Productions shot this same-day edited trailer and presented it at the reception. It goes to show how great videographers have become, getting far away from the “cheesey” 80s style we all fear.

After the photo session, we headed towards Jericho Terrace, where beautiful centerpieces of calla lilies and rhinestones sat atop chocolate brown satin table-runners made by the bride herself. Guests signed a photo mat of their engagement pictures, and complimented the creative table numbers, displaying pictures of the couple. Food and partying galore, guests kept the party going all night, thanks to Starlight Express. Dad danced with his little girl, Joseph lead his gorgeous mother to the dancefloor, and all enjoyed a Mad-Hatter cake (which I didn’t want the couple to cut as it was truly a piece of art) made by Cakes by Jay.

Superfun - Malinda & John
Sep 25 2008 3:09PM

I’ll start this blog post off by saying that when I first met John, I thought we were related…Turns out we share the same heritage, with both our famlies deriving from the Middle East. On the same line, I met Malinda and saw the remarkable resemblance to Katherine Heigl…Malinda’s much prettier though.

Okay, now onto their amazing day! The ladies sipped pink champagne on the morning of Sunday June 22, 2008. They were dolled up by two of my own preferred vendors - hair designer Roseanna Amador of CosmoNY and makeup artist extraordinaire Sally Duvall. One would have thought that Mali picked her bridesmaids based solely on looks - each one, more gorgeous than the next…but nothing compares to the classic style and look of the bride.

We headed over to St. Robert’s Bellarmine in Bayside, Queens for their angelic ceremony. The impeccable sound of Emily Ondracek’s Hire Conservatory Alumni made me stop in my tracks and really listen - it was what I believe Heaven would be like. Even Adam from Pennylane Productions commented on how amazing the quartet was - and he knows music!

I’m sure Angelica Glass and Adam are tired of seeing my face, but it’s always great to work with fantastic vendors - the day runs smoothly, and you know the end result will be perfect. After the I Do’s we headed to the Old Westbury Gardens beating the rain predicted for days, but not before the sun came out as they left the church!

The reception was held at Carlyle on the Green, where the AMAZING music was played by George, and his team at International Sounds Entertainment - he played everything from French, Italian, and something near and dear to me - Arabic! Malinda is an absolute natural bellydancing, and really put a smile on my face.

Congrats to John & Malinda - wishing you both never-ending happiness.

Vineyard: Alyssa & Rob
Sep 25 2008 3:07PM

Alyssa and Rob were married on July 12, 2008 among 200 of their family and friends on a day I would categorize as perfect! The ceremony was held among the amazing landscape of The Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue, NY while The Serenade Duo welcomed the bride escorted by her equally beautiful parents down a path of these gorgeous purple flowers. It’s no surprise of how amazing the ladies looked, it was thanks to Nicole D’Angio and Jacqueline Nicole who dolled them up so perfectly.

Hints of green and purple were found throughout the event - the bridesmaid dresses in a sage chiffon were accented with beautiful purple calla lily bouquets thanks to Laurie from LA Blossom.

Cocktails were served under an awning of grape vines where the warmth of those surrounding the bride and groom was in abundance. Rob and Alyssa had the chance to sneak away for a few moments while Mariann from Blue Daisy took some of these amazing shots:

The reception was accented by a glow of light coming from the custom made centerpieces of grapevine wreaths with pillar candles, bringing elements of the green and purple yet again - what’s even better, is that the candles served as the table numbers!

The guests jammed all night long to Skyline Orchestras’ Code Bleu Band and the party went on and on!

Congratulations to Alyssa & Rob!!!!

Tickle Me Pink (and Brown): Sandy & Roody
Sep 25 2008 3:05PM

Sandy is as gorgeous on the outside as she is on the inside. I mean it….we met and she had a smile from ear to ear that is just about the most HONEST feeling anyone could ever have. She makes you feel welcomed and give you that feeling that you’ve known each other since birth. It was no surprise that when I met her handsome groom, Roody on July 6, 2008, their wedding day, he was just as radiant.

Their ceremony and reception was held at The Sandcastle Caterers in Franklin Square. Every single detail was perfected thanks to Sandy’s amazing taste. The palette of pink and brown and everything pretty in between started with their invitations designed by our own, Laurie (remember this?) The programs, the table numbers, the parasols just wow’ed me over and over again. The custom table numbers that hung from the beautiful centerpieces (made by Signature Florist) and other elements such as the candy-bar decor were thanks to the talents of Eliana from By Your Side Events.

It was the first time I was working with Shira…trust me, there was anticipation since I was constantly hearing about her work and “secretly” wishing we had the chance to work together. That fortunately came through and her talent is impeccable….Shira, looking forward to Cindy’s wedding in September!

Deanna & Mark: 7/7/07 + 1 = 8/8/08
Sep 25 2008 2:56PM

I thought 7/7/07 was going to be a popular date, but I was wrong. Eight is a lucky number internationally among other cultures where Seven is a lucky number to us here in the USA. Mark & Deanna knew it would be a popular date and made sure they booked all their vendors nice and early! So, when they met with me almost a year and half before their big day, I was surprised to find out they booked a majority of their vendors, and vendors that are super popular among the brides of LIWeddings.com.

Mark and Deanna met with me in Brooklyn (their hometown and mine) and we instantly clicked. They both share a profession in nursing which equated to (me) people who are willing to do anything in their power to help others. They are truly meant to be together, and that is something anyone can pick-up on within minutes of spending time with them.

Their wedding day, August 8, 2008 was LUCKY (from beginning to end.) Weather reports predicted rain, but held out until after their ceremony and the beginning of the reception. We were fortunate enough to take loads of pictures before the rain came down, and quickly dissipated.

Deanna and Mark are both Filipino and incorporated many of the traditional elements found in Filipino weddings. Their mass included eight Sets of Principle Sponsors and three sets Secondary Sponsors who are present to witness and symbolize support for the bride and groom’s union in marriage.

The Secondary Sponsors bear traditional wedding symbols such as the arras (coins), candle, veil, and cord. The veil symbolizes unity, the cord (shape of an infinity symbol or figure eight) symbolizes the bond (or tie) between the bride and groom, the candle (known as a unity candle) is lit by the parents of the bride and groom and symbolizes the unity of the families, and the arras symbolizes the future wealth and prosperity of the couple.

Their Amazing Vendors:

Hair: Jenn, the Hair Genie & Sarah Rock
Makeup: Jacqueline Nicole
Photographer: Michael O’Neil
Videographer: Golden Moments (Pat)
Florist: Flower Michele
DJ: Tommy Tunes
Lighting: World of Illumination
Reception: Villa Lombardi’s

Keys & 26/27: Keshri & Ed
Sep 25 2008 2:26PM

I’m embarrassed to say it, but I mistakenly put down Keshri & Ed’s wedding date as Sunday July 27 instead of Saturday July 26!

Needless to say at our floral finalization meeting, I gave Flowers by Emil the wrong wedding date and Keshri & Ed just giggled…I couldn’t believe I was walking around saying 7/27 instead of 7/26! Fortunately, this minor situation does not mean the early set of senility is hitting me…or that I’m partially dyslexic; it just means I can’t separate my Saturday and Sunday in my calendar…so, if anyone wants to buy me a new one - thanks!

They’re intelligent and so NICE - it’s no wonder that every single member of their Bridal Party and Guest at the wedding had smiles from ear to ear - Keshri & Ed’s laughter is contagious (as much as their love.)

Their Vendors:
Ceremony & Reception: Crest Hollow Country Club
Ceremony & Cocktail Music: Harpist, Katharine Saxton
Reception Music: Ultimate Sound DJs
Photography: Proline Studios
Flowers & Decor: Flowers by Emil
Hair: The Bridal Touch by Elena
Makeup: Karen W
