FDA Warns about Bogue Counterfit Botox

On December 25th 2012 the FDA released a notice that over 350 medical practices in the NY area had purchased Botox from outside of the USA.

THis is illegal and not a part of the practices of Messina Esthetic Medicine.

THe Botox they purchsed was from a Canadian wholesale outlet and not via Allergan. The cost fo purchasing outside of the USA is significantly lower that in the USA which is the reason a physician may be pressured to make such a purchase.

The first time I ever heard about "preventative Botox" was when I was injecting for another physician in the Flatiron district of NYC.

Patients were asking for Botox injections that really did not have any significant wrinkles in the bridge of their nose, forehead or on the sides of their eyes.

I asked why they wanted botox and they replied to prevent these lines from forming. At the time I thought it was a bit much but now three years later I believe they may have been correct.

The fact that after Botox they will not be able to lift their brows as much as a person without the injection means they will not constantly create a fold in the skin and thus not form the lines that develop over time.

So now I agree, early prevention using Botox can help prevent age related lines and wrinkles.

Laser Tattoo removal before the wedding date

Hello everybody:

Dr. Messina here to discuss important facts regarding laser tattoo removal.

Yesterday I had a patient come to my Smithtown office inquiring about removing a tattoo from her shoulder. This is a very common request but unfortunately for her we didn't have enough time before her wedding to have that tattoo removed.

It is very important to know that laser tattoo removal takes time. I have the best lasers that are specifically designed for tattoo removal and even with them the process takes at least 6 months and that is conservative.

Do not believe it if another person tells you they can remove a professional tattoo in 3 or less treatments. As a physician I can tell you that would be impossible and possibly scar or burn you.

Please give yourself a year before the date to start a laser tattoo removal process.

If you have a self made amateur tattoo that is different. I most likely can remove that in as little as 2 treatments!

I always strive to remove your tattoo with the least amount of treatments in the shortest amount of time while keeping it medically safe and comfortable.
