Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

I think we have enough of a BIG GROUP and enough big hearts amongst us
to do something good...

Does anyone wanna get together and do something for a group home/nursing home/women's shelter/Childrens Hospital?

Would we have to 'call ourselves' something. We cant just say we're a crazy 'bunch' walking the streets and wanting to barge in and give out toys...

Im in the midst of planning something through my moms club, but we can also do something as the bonded group that we are too!
A name for ourselves? Ideas? Is this 'legit' to do? Hey we're a bunch of volunteers willing and able, who would deny/reject that?

Re: Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

Would love to participate...I don't sing so I would prefer something that doesn't involve that. Trust me - you all don't want to hear me 'sing'.

Re: Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

I think something interactive, games, little token gifts like maybe coffee mugs with candy or something they would make use of and like.(if we choose a nursing home).

Of course we can add Christmas songs to the activities just to lift their spirits.

So what locations are we all in? Im in Suffolk, I know theres several Nassau gals, Tammy?

I know theres a childrens cancer center in Levittown (Haveaheart). We can do that AND a nursing home? (Iget on a kick when I think of these things)

How can we raise money to buy the toys/gifts/refreshments?

Re: Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

Count me in...but not for singing. I don't want to make the children cry.

I'm in Queens, but work in Nassau, so either one is good for me. Suffolk is a little rough for me, depending on how far out.

Re: Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

Im great a few of you are interested.
We need to get a solid head count and commitment before we know how much we can tackle. It will REALLY depend on how many of us there are, and what we plan to do.

Re: Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

One idea is to do like a big sister thing for a day/afternoon/evening with children in need (if we decide to go this route). We could incorporate our holiday theme into making decorations with them, reading them holiday stories, etc. Not sure of what kind of clearance we would need so that whichever charity we work with knows we are not crazies...just brides with big hearts.

I'm so excited!

Re: Why dont we all GTG for A HOliday-Charity Event?

Any of you girls hear of Oriental Trading Company? They send me their brochure at work and I'm flipping through it and see all these great 'kiddie' craft kits at an unbelievably low price (b/c its in bulk). They have a Website ...www.orientaltrading.com

Again, this would apply to my holiday craft making suggestion with kids idea...

Just brainstorming
