Are you supposed to provide transportation to/from church and to/from reception hall for all out of town guests?

The majority of my out of town guests (including FMIL and Her side of the family) call me and ask how will they get to the church and then the hall and then home.

I have made many arrangements for them with limos taking people home and shuttles via the hotels but maybe I'm the only one who feels this way........whenver I attended a wedding out of state, FI and I always rented a car and made sure we had our own transportation everywhere.

Am I totally wrong for thinking this or is the bride/groom supposed to take care of this?

We are taking care of as much as we can, but I'm finding it strange that everyone wants me to coordinate EVERYTHING, from a bunch of different hotels.

Re: Are you supposed to provide transportation to/from church and to/from reception hall for all out of town guests?

i felt it was important for me to provide some sort of transportation. I am providing a shuttle to and from the reception. My bridal party will be taken to the reception by limo bus. Most of the dates will have cars and will leave them at the hotel and take the shuttle. I am doing it from one hotel and one only. If they do not care for the hotel I blocked then they are on their own. In past weddings, we have always planned on our rides home but being the bride you get worried. Plus my family and friends can party so I would like to take the extra step to make sure they are safe. Its up to you.

Re: Are you supposed to provide transportation to/from church and to/from reception hall for all out of town guests?

We are but it's mostly because our guests drive on the wrong side of the road and I'd be afraid they'd have way too many accidents! LOL

Plus they'd all be drinking.

Otherwise unless i know someone can drive me when I'm at an out of state wedding, I rent too.

I think it's a recent thing for couples to provide transporation from hotel to church and reception and back.

I do not think it's the bride & groom's reponsibilty, but we did provide a coach bus for our hotel guests.

Yeah, it does seem like the 'trend'.

It's difficult, because no one is staying at the two hotels we reccomended...some are staying at hotels over 40 min. away...

I guess we'll figure it out.

There is absolutely no reason why you should have to provide transportation for your guests, especially if they chose to stay at other locations, rather than the two recommended hotels.

If our guests pulled that cr@p with us...my DH would have to them to figure it out, it's not our problem.
