9/21/03 Areca at the Hamlet Wedding Review
I'm so sad!!!! I just spent an hour typing my whole review and lost everything when I went to hit Add new topic! Here's a really condensed version. Please FM me for details.
My Favorite Vendors:
Flower Michele Rob and I truly consider John a dear friend. He totally put together all the dtails that brought my wedding together. From our first (4 hour!) meeting we knew that he was our best choice.
Spelman Studios -- We hate getting our picures taken and expressed this concern to Christine. She was so wonderful to work with - I just knew that my pictures would come out great. Out of about 800 proofs there's probably 2 that I don't like. She's so organized too - we got to attend our cocktail hour and she still got all the shots. Especially the little details that were so important to me. She even went to our reception site 2 weeks before the wedding to scope out picture locations. That's going above nad beyond in my book!
Areca at The Hamlet on Olde Oyster Bay -- We were only the second wedding they'd ever had, but they did an amazing job. I still can't believe how amazingly beautiful this place is. Our guests were raving and raving. The food was outrageous (especially the cocktail hour) and the ballroom is stunning. The whole place has such an upscale elegant atmosphere. I wish we could do it all over again!
The Inn at Fox Hollow -- I stayed there the night before the wedding w/ 2 of my girls. It was my best decision. Getting ready there and taking pictures was so much fun. I highly recommend them!
M&V Limo -- I know they've had a bad rep. on LIW, but they were wonderful for us. We got the Navigator for us and the BP and a 14 pass. stretch for our hotel guests. They were on time, professional, clean, reliable. Don't worry -- Book them! =)
Heart and Soul -- We knew from the minute we saw them that they had to be our band. We loved them! We wanted fun but still classy and that's exactly what we got. They really read our crowd right - everyone was complimenting them -- and the voices! They really made our whole wedding
Tutto Pazzo in Huntington Village -- We had our RD there. They were one of the few restaurants that were willing to accomodate 40 people on a Friday night. Their outside patio with the fountain was the perfect setting - the food was wonderful and they sent us home with about 6 trays of leftovers! yum!
The Waldorf Astoria -- We spent our wedding night and the following night in a suite at the Waldorf. Talk about fairytale! The weekend of our wedding was the beginning of the UN conference - so President Bush was staying on the floor above us. When we pulled up after the wedding still in our tux and gown - security was out of control. We were stopped about a block away when the limo driver was like -- that's secret service! They were only letting one car past the barricade at a time, so finally it was our turn. We got out of the limo and a woman at the door was like - oh look at the bride and groom! Congratulations! Next thing we know - there's about 20 NYPD and Secret Service applauding as we walked into the lobby. It's my husband's favorite part of the whole wedding! (what is it with men and the secret service anyway?!? -- Give a guy an earpiece and he's God!!) It really was an amazing way to end our fairytale day.
To be continued ....
