Travel agent - I never booked a trip so I wasn't taking any chances with the honeymoon.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
we went through an agent...my sister's BIL. He did a great job for us. we would have never been able to get the deals we got. I would say use an agent that comes highly recomended

we used a travel agent. i think it depends what you are doing/where you are going. we had an international leg of our flight, and i didn't want to take any chances with times, connections, etc.

My cousin works in a travel agency so she had someone help us find the right destination.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
travel agent...you get better deals I think. I mean you get good deals on the internet but with travel agent she can search all these dates and times at once and find the best deal and find who has better 'freebies' ie: free rental car or free night or free breakfast...I doubt we'd find a deal she did if we did it ourselves. I was very pleased!

We booked it ourselves. We were able to get better deals than the travel agents we went to. They weren't much help. Fiance is is very neat and organized and good with the internet though.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
We usually book our travel on our own but we went through a travel agent for our honeymoon for a bunch of reasons: 1) we got a better deal with a lot of extras, 2) the travel agent makes sure that they know we are honeymooners so they upgrade us if possible, 4) when you use a travel agent, you don't have to pay everything up front so we're able to save more before we pay the balance off, 5) we wanted to have travel insurance since we're spending so much on this trip and it's easier to get it through a travel agent then on your own and 6) we felt more secure having a travel agent b/c if there is a problem while we're away, she can help.if you want a recommendation, let me know.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
In the end, I did it myself. I did, however, see 2 travel agents and did a lot of research. We wound up going through time share from my family. Mainly budgetary reasons.Where did you want to go?

I ended up doing ours myself. It was pretty simple, and most of the ones I went to weren't very good.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
I usually book myself, but we took our first cruise for our honeymoon, so I booked with a travel agent who told us if the price of the cruise went down, then he would credit our account... we originally paid 1150 per person for the cruise and by the time we took it, I think it wound up being $850 per person.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
I found a really great airfare to London, so I booked that online, and then I used Priceline to get our hotel - $65 a night, in South Kensington, 3 Stars. Total is $1210 with insurance for 8 nights 7 days in June - I'm very happy. Of course I use Priceline for everything, so I didn't even consider an agent.I was also looking at Priceline for an all inclusive Caribbean thing. I could have gotten the Grand Lido Braco for about $2400 or so, air and hotel, same dates.

My mom did it for us without a travel agent. We are using a couple of days though FH timeshare. We were also able to get a free airline ticket though skymiles. It helped doing it ourselves, we saved alot of money. We made a point to tell the hotels we booked we are honeymooners. They made note for possible upgrades when we get there.

WE WENT THROUGH A TRAVEL AGENT SO IT WOULD BE ONE LESS THING THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO ARRANGE OURSELVES.

Re: Travel agent or do it yourself to book HM?
I have booked trips through expedia and yahoo but for my honeymoon I want someone else to handle the details! When you book through expedia for instance if you get a great rate, there is usually a reason (the type of room) unless is specifies.
However if you do get a good price go to Liberty Travel or any other agent and tell them! Most will at least attempt to meet your price.
