Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Yay, other Halloweeny girls! Do you ladies have everything done yet, planning-wise? I'm so far behind...we only got engaged in February so we're trying to do it all in a pretty short time!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

10/30 here - we have most done although fh seems to come up with new stuff almost every day now so it is hard trying to add new stuff to the to do list all the time -
the latest idea - a fortune teller for the cocktail hour - geesh - this is turning more into an event and less into a wedding every day -

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

We got engaged in January. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I wanted it sometime in October and it just worked out that everything was available on the 30th. We wanted a quick engagement.

We still need to do limos, flowers, tuxes (FH still can't decide on a wedding party!!) favors, invites, OOT bags, groomsmen gifts, decide on our songs, finalize the guest list, and probably 700 other things I haven't thought of!!

Getting our e-pics done on the 28th - can't wait!!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who still has so much to do. We still need invites and tuxes, but the big one is photographers. We're planning from California, so I don't know how to move ahead on photographs since I can't go and see people's portfolios. They have some stuff online, but it all looks the same.

oakslady, my FH is doing the same thing! I think we're trying to get a mandolin player and a juggler for the CH. Our reception theme is Venetian masked ball, so it's starting to feel like an event to me, too.

sounds like we have the masquerade thing in common - it is becomming alot more than i thought it would be - my mom has suggested belly dancers - and fh thinks it is a great idea
i think they are both nuts !
i think sometimes they are forgetting this is a wedding and not a masquerade ball - hmmm
what can i do ? they can suggest anything they want - i just wont book the stuff i dont like - they'll never know

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

LOL That's what you should do!

I don't mind all the extras--none of the masquerade stuff will be during the actual ceremony, so to me the wedding will still feel like a wedding. My problem is that all the cool little ideas everyone has are going to end up costing a fortune!

ETA: Though I don't think I'd want belly dancers at my wedding. They'd show me up!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

hee hee i agree - a bunch of totally fit belly dancers would make me look horrible - hmmm anyone know a place that does like 80 yr old belly dancers that might be cool -
and i agree all this extra stuff is starting to cost a fortune - i figure we have about 5,000 in extra stuff so far - i think it can only get worse -

i agree we arent doing any of the masquerade stuff during the wedding - so maybe it is ok that we let the reception go a bit crazy
hopefully it all turns out good - i think the most important person at my wedding will be the videographer ! LMAO
i just love that i have another masquerade gal on here - gives me someone to talk to about all this insane stuff

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

I'm 10/31/also. And I'm also doing the masquerade thing. So now there's three of us! YAY!

I have the big stuff stuff done. Hall, Dress, Limo, Photo. I still need favors and Bridal party gifts and invites. I also need flowers. I have yet to find anyting I like. (sigh)

I figure now the mother's day is over I can really buckle down and find someone who will talk to me!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Are you guys doing masquerades where guests dress in costume? Ours won't be, we're doing a 'masked ball' and giving out masks as the favors.

But my FMIL is worried that people will show up dressed like Frankenstein or something. Which personally I think would be hilarious.

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

I am doing a costume ball. My invites will say
'Formal Masquerade Welcome'. So people have the choice to dress up or just wear 'wedding attire'. I may or may not get 'dutch oven robots' as my mom says - but I don't care. We just want everyone to have a good time!

Most of my friends are into the whole ren-faire thing anyway so I suspect that I will have a whole lot of wenches and knights at the reception, which is fine!

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

we are doing the whole costume thing - it actually says on our invites that guests should come in masquerade costume -
we also have alot of ren faire friends so i totally expect a gaggle of knights and ladies -
one of my friends is comming as spongebob - well there always has to be one
LMAO

Re: Any other 10/30 brides?

Oakslady, where are you getting your masks?

I'm kinda jealous of you guys having your guests in costume! FH used to host huge Halloween bashes in NY before we moved out to California (where we are now), and I miss the big costume parties.
