How much spending money for HM

FH and I are trying to decide how much spending money we should have for HM. We're going on a cruise and spending 3 nights in San Juan. We were thinking about 2K.

Not enough, too much? How much are you planning to take with you?

Where is the cruise going? What islands will u visit? Do you plan on shopping alot? Do u have major purchase in mind?

I had it in my head that we could do it for $3k.

After all of the souvenirs and nights out, it cost us over $5k

I will definitely bring a credit card in case we end up spending more than we budgeted.

I have never spent that much on a vacation. But *knock on wood* you only get married once so why not live it up on the honeymoon.

Spitzergirl and I are going on the same cruise. Southern Carribean going to St. Thomas, Aruba, Dominica and Barbados.

FH informed me last night, that he planned to bring about 3-4K for the honeymoon. All I know is after I pay off all theses vendors I won't have a dime to my name

I think we're budgeting about $5000 but we have no idea where we're going, so it might be slightly higher. I keep pushing for Santorini, so we'll see how that goes

It is going to cost you more than 2k.. Try somewhere around 3500-4000. The reason is that the air to PR is prety high. and the cruises that leave from their tend to be a little higher than florida.

Go to a travel agent in your area and have them do all the work for you. YOu don;t pay them a dime!!! it is all given by the comany that you are booking with.

I work in the travel industry for a Major Cruise. Line.

Besides if you go to Puerto Rico, you are going to have to worry about your foodma nd drinks.. THey add up. Budget $3500-$4000 and you should be OK....

I hadnt even thought of that yet. We are going to the Bahamas for 5 nights and its all inclusive so I am going to guess about 1000.00.

We went to JA and honestly we spent almost 2.5k. Over what we planned. We ended up renting a car and then we ate out every sing le day..my fault mainly since all I eat is seafood. DH was happy with fish lol..oh and our daughter loves shrimp so basically take some reserve money in case.

We spent about $1200. What we did was take the cash that we received as gifts at the reception as our spending cash LOL! (Most people gave checks).

I can't even imagine spending $4K for "spend money" on the HM. WOW!!! You girls must be rich Even when we have taken regular vacations, we never spend nearly that much. I am glad we choose an "All Inclusive" place, because I don't want to be worried about cash. I think we are just taking around $1K or so....

We are definelty not brining that much cash. We never do. We will charge and worry about it when we get home. I am not a fan of bringing away a lot of money. I will end up spending it all even if it is not necessary We are also going to an all inclusive so all of our meals and drinks are included

our HM is an all in clusive so it was $5500- we are probably still going to take anywhere from $500 to $1000 w/ us!

I think alot of people are interpreting the question wrong . . .

I think we will probably spend between 1K and 2K for spending . . . We plan on going all inclusive

same here... I thought we were to vote on how much our HM costs... FH and I are also going to jamaica and to be totally honext with you we haven't even thought about spending money yet... luckily our HM is all inclusive...

Ok - for a cruise these are the things you would need money for -
- Oh I take it you are including in this amount SHIP charges? Because that will make a big difference.

Where are you staying in San Juan?

Ok -

On ship charges - figure:
Drinks (about $2.50 for a soda, $3.50-$9 for alcoholic drinks, bottles of wine $22 and up)

Shore excursions - depends on if you will book yourself or with cruise lines - figure $40pp-150pp -(most like catamaran and snorkeling will be in the $40 -50 Range)

Pictures on board? - they take your photo and sell as souvenirs - figure $20 IF you are even interested in this.

Misc shopping on board - depends on what you want

Tips for the crew - See amounts that your cruise line sets - keep in mind many tip over the suggested amount if the service is good.

Off the ship:

This depends on what you booked while on the ship - if you booked shore excursions you won't need much for activities you will need much more if you don't- for say taxis, water rentals, drinks etc

Shopping money - again this depends on you - some go to the islands and buy a lot of jewelry, etc others just some basic souvenirs.

Now in San Juan - where are you staying - do you plan on going to other hotels to eat or to eat at your own hotel. (I know a great fish restaurant if you are interested).

You will need money for:
Meals, Drinks, Taxi, Tips, Shopping.

I tried to break it up and tell you what kind of things you need money for rather than amounts - What is 2K to one person might cost the next 4k or 1k - a lot depends on what you enjoy doing, how much you two drink, and how much shopping you have in mind - The great thing about a cruise is that you can make it an extravagant or a more budget trip depending on your needs and wants.
