But that BY NO MEANS warrants them 'the best team in NY' this year. Puhleeze

ok let me break it down

there are 2 NY baseball teams, the Mets and the Yankees

both teams played each other 6 times and the mets took 4 out out of 6, meaning that the Mets are better than the Yankees

you can't compare them by looking at the standings because they're too different divisions, the Yanks have spent all their time beating up on nonsense teams like the Orioles and Tigers

we've swept the Phils once already in Philly and the Yankees

head to head, we're better this year

the past is the past -- championships have nothing to do with it

especially since half of the championships won were when there were not as many teams in the league

My rule is.... If there was only black and white TV when they won the championship... then its too old and doesn't count.

if you win the world series by beating any other team than the mets, it's moot as far as i'm concerned

that too -- look at it this way, Yankees have been around for 100 years, of those 100 years, they've won 27 times -- that's 27%. In grade school test scoring, that's a failing grade

OMG. You Mets fans will twist anything around to make yourselves feel like 'champions' , when all you did is win ONE SERIES!

First of all , the season isn't even 1/2 over. Calling ANYONE the best team in the city for the YEAR 2004 is ridiculous.

The Mets played the Yankees and beat us -- fair and square. YES, you deserve 'bragging rights' towards the fact that when faced 'head to head' against one another , the Mets were 'the better team.' But the best team in all of NY no matter what happens the rest of the season? I beg to differ

We are not even yet at the All-Star break, where the tides can drastically turn ... and the Mets can begin their typical downward spiral right into the basement, as they are accustomed to...

Talk to me in September and lets really see who the better team is by that point.
