Just curious....why ivory and not white????

OK.... i have to ask
those of you that ordered IVORY gowns not white...why since brides are white????

is there a special reason?

it is just a question i have been wondering about

I looked so much better and THINNER in the ivory.. the white totally washed me out

because I am super-pale & my skin actually blended with the super white dress....also I got married in January & being after Labor Day, I did not want to wear white.

Also, ivory fit the 40's theme of my wedding better.

personally i ordered white, my best friend and one of my bm;s ordered ivory...it just looked better with her skintone! when she put on her dress in white she HATED IT! in ivory though she LOVED it!

I always planned on white, but the sample of my dress was Ivory and it was perfect like that so I got ivory

It depends on your skin tone. I'm kind of fair so I wore soft white. A friend of mine has skin that's has kind of yellow undertones so she wore ivory. But it was funny how you couldn't really tell that her dress was ivory until you held it up against a white dress!

Same here. Also, with the dress that I ordered, the material looked richer in the ivory. This wasn't the same for all of the dresses, but it happened to be the case for the one I got.

My dress is light ivory. I'm very pale and a white dress made me look really washed out.

NOW i am getting worried... all along i wanted white so i don't remember paying attention to ivory....
i get very pale butu i am planning on tanning

white always looks nice with a tan!

And to be honest, my gown is ivory and on me, you can't even tell! I have olive-toned skin, and the white made me look more green! YUCK! But I wasn't tan....BUT the sample of my gown was ivory and I liked it, so like Julz, i just stayed with it....I didnt want to risk ordering my gown in white sight unseen and then not liking it as much as the ivory sample....

Silk isn't pure white, so sometimes they call it ivory, and I wanted a silk gown.

for me it is because i am incredibly pale and when i wore the white i looked like a ghost - fh said my skin looked transparent - which isnt a good thing

so i went with the ivory it just looked so much better on me

Same here - some materials don't come in pure white....silk and some satins just come in the 'natural' color - they don't dye it or anything.... Mine didn't even come in pure white because of that.

BTW - Jillbean, I wouldn't even think about it, your dress is so pretty! :) Plus I think with the purple flower, white is probably even better.
