Guest may bring a two-month old!!!!!!!
So a kind of family member of FH (long, long story, but they have only met probably 5 times) has two kids, but is having a baby two months before our wedding. All along she said they wouldn't be able to make it because she would be feeding and couldn't leave the baby with a relative (they live about 8 hours away so it is a long trip). Today he says they might come, with the baby. I am imagining crying during the ceremony, dirty diapers stinking up my reception...I didn't even want kids there to begin with, and now this!? Can I ask FMIL to delicately tell her no babies even though we would welcome the 10 and 13 year old kids?

I am w/ you - A wedding reception is no place for a 2 month old baby !! - I'm assuming they won't come......

What if she just brings the baby to the reception? Is that an option, so no crying baby during the ceremony.

My best friend's sister had a baby three months before her wedding.. they baby slept the entire time during the wedding, Rehearsal Dinner, etc.. They are so little at that point, it is like a living acessory.Plus, if the kids starts crying during the ceremony, I am sure her or the dad will step outside until the baby stops.

Re: Guest may bring a two-month old!!!!!!!
I'm not having kids at mine. (only my half-sister, who is in the WP (she'll be 11) and my mom's neice, who is also 11- but is my only 1st cousin). My FH's first cousins are all adults who have children, so we argue about this all the time, but we don't want to start opeing a panduras (sp?) box with EVERYONE's children! But a 2 month old... I would think not! PLUS, I wouldn't even WANT to take MY 2 month old to a wedding!

Probably
I just REALLY REALLY don't want any sh*tty diapers at my wedding. I don't want the bathroom to be a changing room, I don't want crying unless they are tears of joy...AHH!!!

Sigh. It's not even the crying, but they can be so smelly! And who else is going to want to sit at a table with them and the baby!? And what if she breast feeds at my wedding
They are from a very rural area, so I think they don't really have any idea what this wedding is going to be like!

Ceremony is at the reception site.

Um-- ok, the rural thing may be a factor. I hear ya on the bathroom thing though. And breastfeeding- I am still scarred from being a kid and walking in on a woman who was breastfeeding at my temple in the coat room during the high holidays- I mean- go to the bathroom!!

I have a problem with this last statement. Would you want to eat in a bathroom?!?!?

I don't know if the baby will care where it is being fed?

That's disgusting. I have been breastfeeding for over a year and a half and have never once fed my daughter in a germ-infested bathroom.

Re: Guest may bring a two-month old!!!!!!!
That is a tough situation. Maybe they could just decide to have one spouse stay with the baby (at the hotel) and the other bring the two kids? Whatever happens I hope it works out the way you want it!

I don;t have a problem with breastfeeding at all.. I just think it can make someone uncomfortable.. especially at a wedding where everyone does not know each other. Aside from that-- it is a completely natural thing-- plus it burns calories!

I didn't mean to start anything--no offense to any babies or moms out there. I know their bodily functions and crying are natural, I just don't want it at the 5 hours of my wedding.

Exactly, I think the bathroom was just a suggestion of a more private place. I wouldn't care if she went to the bridal suite or whatever; that would probably be even more private than the bathroom.

Well, that's a different story. I'd take the suite over a bathroom any day!

Re: Guest may bring a two-month old!!!!!!!
I am in the exact same situation. My cousins are coming from Florida with their 3 month old. I have no kids coming- except my 6 and 10 year old cousins from Paris. I kinda got cornered into letting them come with the baby but asked them to sit in the back and to have the caterer to also check that they sit in the back. I am just hoping the baby doesn't cry during the ceremony!Welcome New Vendors
