Well I plan to buy a lot of candy online from wholesalers, and late October cuts it close. Doesn't it?

Oh, I didn't realize you were doing it online. Why don't you e-mail the retailer and find out their shelf life? It is usually about 2 months (I still have candy from last Halloween and it doesn't seem to bother FH!!). I know the stores are selling Halloween candy now so it has to be at least 6 - 8 weeks.

I got my chocolate early, after hearing that chocolate has a pretty long shelf life as long as you keep it in a cool place- but NOT the fridge. I put it in the fridge and my sister (who does chocolate favors all the time) told me to take it out or the chocolate might turn whitish- still edible, but doesn't look appetizing. I have it in the basement in the boxes they came in.

Re: How far in advance can I buy candy?
I bought candy for my candy bags months ago because I was told it has a shelf life of like a year. I still have it in my basement and I haven't opened any of the bags. I will probably start making them next week. I'm sure the hard candy will be fine, but I'll make sure none of the chocolate has turned white.Welcome New Vendors
