My Jewish FMIL begged me to do this so no, I'd say that not only Catholics do it. It's such a pretty sentiment and really not religion based - go for it!

Here is a picture of my candle. They can make it with any color "stripe", we chose a medium blue. Violet would be very pretty!!!

Actually, the unity candle is not considered a religious ceremony, just simply a nice touch that can be used by anyone.

I love this style of candle, they are very different.
I got mine off Ebay, its white on white (they'll do any color combination). I'm not doing the flowers below it, but since its a wide base (4") I haven't figured out what to use to hold it.
