I am Married 10/01/04 Captain Bill's Review (some amatuer pics)

More Honeymoon pics added on page 2!

We’re Married! Everything went beautifully, just as we wanted it. It really was the perfect day, and the perfect honeymoon. All of my vendors did a good job, some of them great! There were no huge disappointments.

I will try to start at the beginning.

Invitations: Gina from LI Wedding Planners. 9/10
Gina was pleasant to deal with and the invitations were what we asked for. The only reason she is getting a somewhat lower score is because the calligrapher she used did a terrible job. Almost ¼ of my invitations had obvious mistakes on them and I had to reprint them myself. I felt the ones I did myself were just as good.

Bridal Gown: Macy’s at Smithhaven 10/10
I bought my dress as a sample 2 years before the wedding. I was very happy with how it looked and with the service there.

Bridesmaids/Flower Girls Burton’s Bridal 9/10
Only one of my girls had their alterations there, and they did ok. My score is mostly for customer service reasons. The ladies there were not very helpful on the phone, and the girls had a very hard time getting an appointment for alterations (they don’t do evenings). (that’s why they got their alterations done elsewhere).

Tuxes: Men’s Wearhouse 8/10
Most of the guys needed alterations on the spot because the tuxes weren’t ordered well, but the DID a satisfactory job fixing the problems, and all the guys looked great on the wedding day. My DH’s button popped on his vest right before the ceremony, but other than that he looked great!

Rehearsal Dinner Three Village Inn in Stonybrook 10/10
We had about 25 people at this dinner and it was delicious. We started with cocktails and hors devours, and then had a delicious sit down dinner. I was a little upset that they wouldn’t let me bring in a cake for my poor sister’s birthday, but they did serve her a special dessert instead.

Re: I am Married

Hair Carley from Anthony Defranco in Huntington 10/10
She happens to be one of my best friends, but she did a fantastic job on me and my girls and my mom. I LOVED how I looked all day!

Limo M&V 7/10
The driver was prompt and courteous; however the limo was FILTHY inside, with actual DIRT all over it. It looked like the last passengers had been rolling in mud, and they hadn’t cleaned it. The seats weren’t visibly dirty, but the bar area/doors were. I had to be VERY careful not to destroy my gown. It also smelled very strongly of smoke. I think the last passengers might have been smoking cigars, which might explain the dirt (cigar ashes??)

Flowers: Laurie from LA Blossom 20/10
LA Blossoms
This was the highlight of the wedding decorations for me. My bouquets were stunning and the hall looked beautiful. Laurie payed attention to all the details, from the stair banister, the ceremony table, everything. All you have heard about Laurie is true, she really works magic.

Photo/video DUET Pre-wedding and wedding day: 10/10
Duet

The guys from Duet were fantastic to work with. They arrived early and stayed till the end. They did not get in the way, they weren’t bossy, but they did have great ideas for photos. We had Woo, Charlie and Hong (I THINK)
I will amend this score if necessary when we see our proofs.

Cake Audrey’s Bakery 10/10
Thomas was excellent to work with. We had a chocolate fudge frosting with orange and red flowers as decorations. The inside was layers of vanilla and chocolate cake with chocolate pudding filling. The cake was not traditional, but it was DELICIOUS.

Chocolate Fountain (Audrey’s) 10/10
Again Thomas was a doll. The guests were amazed by the fountain. We decided on this last minute and we are SO glad we added this on!

Officiant: Reverend Janine Burns 10/10
Reverend Janine

Dr. Burns was amazing. She met with us 3 times before the wedding to help us put together a special and personalized ceremony that meant a lot to both me and my husband. Guest commented numerous times that it was the most beautiful wedding ceremony they had witnessed. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for an officiant.

Ceremony/Reception music: Chaser 10/10
Chaser

This band (although personal friends of my family) was outrageous. We hired them not only because we know what wonderful people they are, but because we know first hand how professional they are about their music. From the classical music at my ceremony to the beautiful rendition of our first dance, to their amazing rendition of ‘what a wonderful world’ (listen to it on their site!) they just knocked our socks off. The dance floor was jamming all night!

Bayview House at Captain Bill’s 10/10
Captain Bill's

I can’t figure a single thing to complain about the hall. The staff was great to work with, the food was superb, and everything just looked wonderful. The cocktail hour was out on the deck, and we were lucky enough to have warm enough weather to keep the sides open. Most of the guests had room to sit, but we had a relatively small wedding (125). There was a small line at the outside bar during the cocktail hour, but it seemed move fast. I didn’t see a single line at the inside bar during the reception all night.

Re: I am Married

Honeymoon Norwegian Dawn Cruise 10/10
The cruise was fantastic. The weather was fantastic, luckily! the crew on this boat was just wonderful, so helpful, friendly, funny. The food was mostly good, there were some dishes I didnt' care for, but there was always plenty of options. We had a gorgeous room considering it was a ship cabin.

Travel Agent: Dawn at Cruise One 10/10
Dawn was easy to work with, got us a good deal, and even called us once with an offer to upgrade from the cruise line. As a plus, she surprised us with a bottle of wine and a fruit basket when we arrived on the ship!

Both BM dresses were by Bill Levkoff, in Euro Red. I let them both choose a dress they were comfortable in, and it worked out great!
