Totally!! You need to find the shape that works best for you- so try on as many as possible..
Keep in mind that most brides try on 50 to 70 before deciding on the one.. Don't get frustrated.
Wear good underwear-- no grannie panties
Be prepared to leave your modesty at the door
throw a strapless bra in your bag- although most places give you a long line bra to try on dresses with
be firm on your budget- and only look for dresses in your budget

Have fun, don't settle for a dress (you'll know the 'one' when you see yourself in it) and be ready to try on different styles.
You are going to have a blast. Enjoy and take pics if they allow

Hi,Go to bridal reflections in Massapequa ask for Gloria. She is the best. I bought a Steven Yearick gown I cant wait to wear it to my wedding in 18 months. The one that makes you stop breathing--Is the One!

I agree 100% also be sure to eat something before hand. I know you'll be excited but it's exhausting and I almost passed out my first time because I hadn't eaten.

Re: First Day Dress Shopping Tomorrow!!!
haha, yes EAT and bring water! I started getting dizzy also the first time I went. Bring a strapless bra if you'd like also, because depending on the place the lady may not leave you alone in the fitting room - and depending how 'shy or conservative' you are, it could get a little too uncomfortable. Have fun with it and good luck!! Also, make sure to try on veils with the dresses - have to complete the look:)

Re: First Day Dress Shopping Tomorrow!!!
HAVE FUN!! And try any and every dress on that catches your eye even if you think it might not look good on you. Some dresses look better on real bodies then on hangers!!

Re: First Day Dress Shopping Tomorrow!!!
Yaayyy!! A couple of pointers:1. When you try on 'the' dress - you will know by the way it makes you FEEL. Whether that dress is number 3 or number 33 that you've tried on, when it's right, STOP!! Because if you keep trying on dresses after the one you fall absolutely in love with, trust me, CONFUSION WILL ENSUE.
2. Don't try on too many dresses in ONE DAY. You will get what's known in the industry as 'snow' blind and you won't be able to differentiate one dress from another.
Have a blast!!

Re: First Day Dress Shopping Tomorrow!!!
Relax and have fun!
Try on several different styles, especially if you don't have a specific type of dress in mind. You might be surprised that what looks best on you is NOT what you thought would.
Don't feel compelled to find THE dress the first time you go shopping.
Something I never thought about until trying on dresses...the weight of the dress. I tried on all kinds of dresses from heavy satin and chiffon. I found that I liked the chiffon ones better. With the satin, I felt like I was being dragged down.
Have a great time, and make sure you report back!

Re: First Day Dress Shopping Tomorrow!!!
Haven't found one yet, but there are some contenders...They ARE really heavy, that's because I am all about the ballgown.
I found two dresses at both places, however, even though I LOVED one of them, actually, more than one, I feel like that 'this is the one' won't happen to me.
My mom said it will, that it will be the dress I wont want to take off...
The one I have my eye on is all lace, think Jessica Simpsons dress, and thank you soon2bemsz for telling me who makes it, you were right.
We are going again on Friday, however so many places are booked solid (Bridal Reflections and Lillette's for example).
I'll keep you posted!
Thanks Ladies!!!!
