Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
If it makes you feel better I am getting married a few weeks after you and I have not even started to look at dresses yet.I have designated the weekend of 12/18 to start looking b/c it is my first free weekend after my exams.
I am sure we will both find dresses.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
it's not too late, but i wouldn't wait too long, most people tell the bride to order eight months in advance, but i know girls who ordered their dresses and it took that designer 8-12 months to get it in. not trying to scare you, i say start looking now, you don't want to find 'the one' and then find out you can't get it in time

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I would start seriously looking, but would not stress out over it yet.My dress (I actually just ordered it yesterday) should be here in 3 months. So I could have waited until March to get it. From what I was told when I was looking around, the longest is about 6 months (unless you get something really really fancy).
Maybe narrow it down to a couple of general designers that you like and see how long they take - this way you'll have an idea of how close you can pull it.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
My wedding is July 30 and I JUST ordered my dress last weekend. The sales associate I worked with actually told me that things start to slow down during December but get very busy after the New Year because so many girls get engaged around Christmas. So, I would keep looking through this month--you might have the stores to yourself!

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I planned on starting to look in January but after reading jenniesunshine's post I guess I should start now while it's not as hectic in the stores.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I wouldn't panic, but I wouldn't wait too much longer either. I ordered mine back in June and it's not even in the store yet.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
If you are really picky than I would start right away but dont panic, I ordered my dress last week and it will be in by 02/25/05 at the latest say middle of march. I think you have enough time, but dont forget alterations

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I think you are fine but i would not wait any longer- aim for getting it by the middle of january. Just dedicate an entire weekend to shopping. You will find the one and will absolutely love it.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I would put a goal in mind to have the dress ordered by January the latest. I already have my gown, but my BM's haven't ordered their dresses yet. They are going to be ordering them within the next 2 weeks and the place where we are getting them said that depending on what designer you pick could make a difference in how fast the dresses come in. Some designers are more popular than others and have a larger amount of orders, therefore slowing down how fast your dress, or BM's dresses, will come in.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I wouldn't say your late, but for certain designers it can take up to a year to order.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
I ordered mine in August and they told me mine will take 10 months to come in-any later would have been too late. I hope it comes sooner. Don't stress but start looking soon.

Re: July/August 05 Brides- QUESTION
Don't stress but keep looking.I found my dress relatively quickly but I'm a teacher and I literally spent an entire week during the summer doing nothing else. I have a strict budget and definite opinions. Still, I counted, I tried on 74 dresses before I found the one.
My dress search parallels my search for FH. If it took me 33 years to find him what would anyone think I would find the dress quickly
