I need the girls on this (? about pill)

The pill...

Okay, which one is the best one? Does anyone who is a migraine sufferer take them? How will it effect pregnancy chances once one gets off of it?

I feel like I should know these answers, but my doctor has confused me!

help...please....

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

There are so many different types of pills, and everyone has a different reaction to the same one. Right now, I am on the generic of OrthoTriCyclen, and it's the one that agrees with me the best.

I started off on regular OrthoTriCyclen, had to switch to Trivora for insurance purposes, and it was awful. My whole personality changed. By that time OTC was made into a generic, so my doctor switched me back, and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

I'm not a migraine sufferer, so I can't help you there. I hear mixed things about getting pregnat after being on the pill. Some people get pregnant right away, other take a little time. But that could be just your body regardless of whether or not you were on the pill.

Hope that helped!

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

Honestly, I am really concerned about the migraines. One doctor told me i shouldn't take the pill, another told me it would be okay. I would lile a steady dose instead of 3 doses (I had taken a tricycline once and i had a horrible time w/ it)

I know you have a point though, so my main question will be how has those who suffered from migraines faired being on the pill?

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

I am on triphasil 28 and I have had an ok experience with it. I am a migraine sufferer and while I have always had headaches, I have never had ones like the ones that I have had while being on the pill. My doctor never warned me about this and about 3 times a month, I suffer horribly. I am not sure if this has to do with the pill or not because like I said, I have always been a migraine sufferer but I did notice that since starting the pill, they have come more frequent and a tad worse. I dont have a choice though, for now I have to be on the pill for medical reasons so I have to just live with it.

Good luck!

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

If it's migraines you're worried about, look for a pill (or ask MD) with low progesterine. This is what my MD always told me ---
or look into a constant flow of hormones, like the patch (OrthoEvra) or the ring (NuvaRing). A constant flow of hormones will stop hormone surges, and therefore stop the migraines/nausea.
HTH!

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

I started out with Orthocyclen and it made me a crazy person. I then went to Loestrin and I was fine. The only thing I noticed was my face was breaking out more then usual. My insurance stop covering the name brand so I switched to the generic, mood swing central. My doctor just switched me to Yasmin. I start it next week.

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

I never had any issues with the pill related to my migraines.

I've been on Triphasil and Ortho Tricyclen. I did not like any of the generics I was on (Tri Sprintec ? and something else ... ) but again nothing to do with migraine.

I do not suffer from migraines but I had horrible depression recently after going back on Ortho TriCyclen. Ugh.

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

I am currently on Estrostep and it sux. I haven't had a period since August because the hormones in the pill are making my body out of wack. As soon as I get home from the honeymoon I'm switching.

Othro tri-cycline also made my cycle wacky.

I was on Nordette for years and I loved it. I'm going back to that.

Re: I need the girls on this (? about pill)

I get bad migraines and took Orthro Tri Cyclen. I just recently went off of it because I was on it for a very long time and wanted a break from it. I also got paranoid about the whole pregnancy thing...

To answer your 1st question, my headaches are the same when I was on it vs. now that I am off it.

If you decide to get pregnant, they say it takes a while to leave your system, especially if you have been on it for a while.
