(read this already?? then skip to page 2 for updates and pics!!)

OK, so I get a call that my dress is in, and I'm all excited but when I call they say, 'Great, just wanted to let you know to call back in April for your first fitting'. My question: Is that how it works?? I'm so confusted, I was all ready to hop in the car to go see it and wear it and prance in it and...well, you all know. So what gives??

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

did you tell them you were def getting your alterations done there? (that seems so presumptuous of them if you didnt!)

all places are different, but I think you should DEFINATELY go in soon to try it on and make sure they got the right dress/ size... you dont want to wait until April to find out theres some kind of mistake!!
(and also, check for any imperfection on the dress-- pulls, runs, etc)

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

Definitely go check it out. I was told by my shop that they call when it's in and then you make arrangements to try it on and make sure there are no problems with it.

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

NOW HOLD UP...I just called them back to let them know that I want to come in to inspect and try on my dress, and they were like you can come it and check it but you can't try it on! WHAT DAFLUCK?!! So I'm like, what's the point of me coming in to inspect MY dress if I can't try it on. Do you know the barely speaking english assistant went to get the manager, who I heard in the background asking, 'why does she want to try it on for? but if she wants to she has to make an appointment?' HUH?! Needless to say I made my appointment, and told my BF she's coming with me...

Has anyone had this type of experience?

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

that is so ridiculous!! you have every right to try your dress on!!! it's yours, and you have to make sure that what they're giving you is what you paid for...

i would rethink getting my alterations done there...they seem kinda wierd

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

My bridal shop has a policy that you can try it on once before your fitting. When mine came in, I went with my mother, inspected it and put it on. (I once heard of a dress maker sewing a size label 14 into a 4 dress.)

Once satisfied me. I would insist on trying it on though.

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

My fiancee got the call her dress came in back in Dec. Because she lost 15 lbs. and wants at least 10 more they told her she was going to have to come in 2 more times. I think she is waiting until 3 months before the wedding.

I'd say definitely go and try on your dress. If something is wrong and they need to get you a new one it may take a while. My fiancee's dress took 4 months from Spain.

Best Wishes,

Thomas

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

Go get your dress! If they are pulling a stunt now, who knows what may happen down the road. Your dress is paid for so you can do whatever you want with it. INSPECT it first though. And when they get pissy, let them know their attitudes cost them the alteration $ on your gown

That seems to be the case! We'll see how i feel on Friday. If they are not helpful and continue with the attitude (the woman that is my contact was not there when i called), then I most certainly will take the dress and RRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

I'm sorry but something sounds very wrong with that. Its like they want a guarantee that you will only have your alterations done there. Thats ridiculous! You've paid for the dress, its just like if you pay for an article of clothing! What is Macy's says, oh what a beautiful coat, alright come back in the spring and we'll give it to you!

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

I just recently checked my dress. It came in about a month ago but on Friday my mom and I went to check it. The Bridal shop was very professional and even said that I should come back as much as I want to check the dress. They also suggested when my veil and tiara to come in to try it all on again to make sure I still liked everything!

I definitely think you should go check the dress and make sure you are completely satisfied.

Re: MY DRESS IS IN!!! BUT..............

I would go and try the dress on anyway. How can they stop you; it's your dress. My dress came in a month ago and they told me I should come in and try it on and check for any manufacturing defects. Cause if you wait until April it might be too late to check for defects.
