As of now, church is at 11 and CH starts at 1 and there's a 40 minute drive from church to reception. We're invited to a wedding in March in which the church is at 3 and the CH is at 6 with a 20 minute drive from church to reception. I don't know what FH and I are going to do with ourselves from 4 to 6. I don't like gaps.

We are having a 3PM ceremony and 6PM reception with only a 10 minute drive to the hall. I know it's a large gap, but the 4.30 time slot was gone and we want good light for our photos. I guess they'll have to go for a drink

Our ceremony began at 2pm and the CH began at 6:30pm. It was at least a 45 minute drive from the Church to the reception hall and our hall accepted guests as early as 5:30pm.We went to Old Westbury Gardens during the gap for our photos and I wish I had an even bigger gap to allow more time for photos.

Re: For all brides getting married in a church: What time is your ceremony and Cocktail hour?
The reason for my gap is b/c Fh called the church to set the date back in 2004 when he spoke with the priest he told him that ur calling way too early and not to worry the date is open and wouldn't give him a time and said he'll write it down and to call back jan 06. They called me yesterday and told me that I have to have 1 b/c ppl called b4 me and requested 230 (they only do 2 weddings a day 1 and 230) so I flipped out. Then me and FH thought that maybe the gap was good 4 us so that we don't have to miss CH and we don't have to rush things. So anyway I called back and told the lady 130 and thats it b/c YOU made the mistake NOT ME!! So thats the reason for my gap. I guess my guests can go home and relax for a while b4 the reception.WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS???
(opinions please)

Re: For all brides getting married in a church: What time is your ceremony and Cocktail hour?
This thread makes me feel so much better. I stressed, STRESSED I tell you, over the fact that my ceremony at the church is at 10:00am and my CH starts at 11:45 with a 25 minute drive to the ceremony. I guess it won't be so tight after all.
