Need your reviews on the Douglaston Manor
A friend of mine is interested in having her wedding there. She is going to the showcase in Feb. Has anyone ever been to a wedding there or is anyone having/had their wedding there?? Just want some thoughts on it - I know nothing about it.THANKS

Re: Need your reviews on the Douglaston Manor
I went there while I was looking for an economic place to hold my wedding in - I left there running! There are WAY nicer places for those of us in a budget...Stewart Manor, Knights of Colombus, any other place...seriously, please tell your friend not to bother. I ended up getting a package at JT paying the same I would have at DM on a Friday night in May - the difference between the two places is night and day.I'll say this...they use a plastic accordion 'wall' to partition the rooms...

I haven't had any personal experience but I have also heard bad review and when i called to find out prices I thought it was too much and I could have gotten a better price somewhere else.

I checked the place out for the same reason. I guess I was too naive at the time to know there are other economical places to have my wedding. The people there were very nice but they were in the middle of remodeling and we didnt know what it would look like after so we decided not to wait and see.

i ran into the same situation. not to mention it smelled musty when i went there. They mentioned the remodeling was redone. omg that place needs an over haul. Dont go there tell her that there are plenty of other places that are soooo much nicer.

Re: Need your reviews on the Douglaston Manor
I live in the area-and while I haven't ever been there I understand that it's under new ownership and is going through a complete overhaul/remodeling. Hopefully it will be better!ETA: I also understand that once it's finished that there will be a fancy steak house there so maybe they are going to be better-good luck!

Re: Need your reviews on the Douglaston Manor
I agree with the above posters it was pretty scary. However, it is under new management and is being redone. The people that own Papazzio, Erawan and 39-East in Bayside purchased it. I have eaten at 39-East and Papazio and they are both nice places with excellent food. It may be a good choice depending on when the renovations are finished.

I looked there too, because of the package deal.. When the coordinator tried to sell us to come to their single night clam bakes, we bolted out of there. They were in the middle of renovations still. The garden room is pretty tho.Welcome New Vendors
