Discount Gown Websites

Has anyone actually bought off of them? I have an appointment tonight to try on some gowns. When I find the one I want and if i find the same gown on one of these websites for half the price, is it worth it?

i think its totally worth it. i ordered my dress from phyllis at gownfind and got almost 40% off the retail price!. she's also doing my alterations.

Im using burton's bridals for my gown. Although they are not online, they offer prices competitive to online sites.
For my bridesmaid dresses Im using gownfind.com which is located on the island. Her prices are competitive with online retailers and she offers alterations to my local BM's.

Also try RKBridal.com located in Manhattan

I also ordered my dress from gownfind.com and will have Phyllis do my alterations. My dress retails for about $500 and I'm getting it for a little over $300.

I bought my gown at Netbride- paid 500 less, and it was in perfect condition. My sister got her MOH dress from them too and saved over 100. Well worth it...

I have been wondering how this works? Do you order your gown and get it shipped to your home and then bring it to a seamstress to get all the alterations done?

You order the gown after having someone take your measurements. Then they ship it to you- I opted to have it sent to work so it wouldn't be placed on my front stoop. I then researched seamstresses and hired someone to alter the gown for me. It only needs a hem and bustle since its a corset back.

thanks for all the input. i'm hesitant, but we'll see. i'm just afraid of getting it online then when i receive it it has a whole in it or its completely the wrong gown. my mom is paying for it so its her i'd be saving. its the only thing my parents r paying for.

with phyllis, i just went to her home and she took all of my measurements, including my hollow to hem measurement. she then ordered my size according to the size chart. once the dress comes in, she'll be storing it for me. then three months prior to the wedding, i'll go for my first fitting...and she'll do the alterations if any are needed.
