Knitters Untie!

Anyone have any fairly simple patterns that lend themselves to long panels for an afghan?

TIA

Ummmmm, no But I have finally moved on to seed stitch and it looks so nice!!

So far I can stockinette, garter, rib and seed. One day, I will master cabling and then life will be good!!

Re: Knitters Untie!

oooh, I do, I do! My grandmother gave me a booklet that has a pattern for a blanket in it. But they're more like squares instead of panels

I'll try to remember to bring it in and post it tomorrow.

My scarf is almost finished, it's long enough this time, just a bit wonky...darn tension!!! I've realized the longer you make something the more chance you have of messing it up!

Untying... uniting is lame!

Any of you dare untie any of my hard work, I will sever your testicles with a monkey!

PS: It's not the screechy yarn...that one came out too short and I havent' learned how to join yet...even if I knew how, I don't think I want to anymore *sigh* it's an abandoned project!

Re: Knitters Untie!

I am knitting right now (well, I just finished a row and started to type)

I think once I finish the scarf I am on now, I will do something with cables. I bough the special cable stitch holder and everything.

Re: Knitters Untie!

speaking of untying, DH's grandma likes to knit, jsut to untie it &start over

I think her daughters have convinced her that children need her kintting skills so she makes blankets for charity now.

and BTW- I left my knitting stuff lying around, couldn't get the hang of it, used the yarn for crocehtign isntead & Dh pcked it up & in a few taught hinself! Mega nerd! He just wanted to see if he could teach himself.

.

A friend told me she did this in college. She would knit a whole ball of yarn and then rip it out and start new.

Does anyone use size 13 needles and ion brand Thick and Quck yarn? Is it really that much faster with bigger needles and thicker yarn?

Re: Knitters Untie!

there are tons of patterns on line -- i am knitting as scarf with all ribbons - tied together in little sections - some pieces long, some short and the parts that are tied together add to the shabby chic-ness of the scarf

i have knit tons of scarves and hats already -- it takes alot of ripping out but once you make a few you don't need the pattern anymore.

Yeah I know, I've been doing scarves for a while.

What websites do you use to find simple patterns (besides stockinette, garter, seed and moss), I can never find reliable sites!

I learned on size 15- I needed immediate gratification! It is much faster on big needles and fat yarn.

You could take a class, get an afghan book (from Borders or Barnes & Noble or Michaels), get a pattern from the internet.

I'm trying one for the first time, sort of off the cuff by making long panels of patterns I'm familiar with. I have to figure out how to stitch the panels together though!

I think I have some panel afghan patterns. It may have some cables, are you ok with cables?

Lion brand has patterns, maybe they have a simple one.

Re: Knitters Untie!

Cables scare me! But maybe I'll give 'em a try!

I'll check lion brand, thanks!
