engagement party stuff

I am almost (so close) to having the place for our engagement party booked, and I'm trying to come up with a budget. What is everyone doing for favors? what about invitaions? I am sending out 170, so I'm debating on whether or not to have them printed for me.

Re: engagement party stuff

I had the invitations printed up for me, after I found a carlson craft vendor offering 40% off. I figured I could try them out for the engagement, as a test run for the wedding... They turned out great.

We're working on favors for the e-party now.. I want personalized playing cards, my FH wants picture frames, my mom wants champagne glasses or bud vases...

Good Luck!

Re: engagement party stuff

I did the invitations myself. I sent out about 60 invites and it only cost me $32.00. I bought coffee favors that cost me $65.00 for 48. So i haven't spent much money.

The catering my Uncle is taking care of and the rental for the club he will take care of also.

Re: engagement party stuff

I thought we were bad!!! We're having 120 people (invited 150) and I thought that was A lot. My FH designed our invitations and printed them on the comp. We printed 100. They were Beautiful. I wish I knew how to show them! Favors his aunt actually purchased for us. They're winestoppers with hearts on them. Very nice and actually economical.

Re: engagement party stuff

I bought paper at Staples and printed them up myself. THey sell the same wedding invitation kits at Staples, Michaels, AC Moore and Party City. Just white with silver hearts.
It was actually pretty easy to do. I made them up in microsoft word then just printed them. Becuase it's an invitation kit they came with response cards also. I used those as the little cards for the directions. It worked out great and they came out great!

I also decided not to do favors. the thought is nice, but...i've been to plenty of engagement parties and never recieved a favor. We're having about 80 people at my sister's house. I just thought a favor wasn't ABSOLUTELY necesary and would just be another added expense. Just my opinion though. I rather put the money to something else.

Re: engagement party stuff

As for invites, I bought paper and matching envelopes from Pearl Paint (Hempstead Tpke, Levittown) and printed them myself. (see pics)

For favors, I again, made them myself. A Tahitian Vanilla votive candle in a simple votive cup (was going to do votive place card holders, changed my mind), wrapped in tulle and tied with a personalized ribbon and accent. (see pic)

FM if you have any questions!

-Jill

Re: engagement party stuff

We are inviting 110 and bought a invitation kit at Michaels. For favors my FMIL is making cute wrappers to glue around hershey bars, a chocolate favor packaged in individual slices that when put together makes a tiered cake and flower center pieces. I can't wait!!! My party is May 21st!

Re: engagement party stuff

We are inviting around 130, we are doing the invites ourselves with a kit we bought at staples- so pretty. I don't think we are doing favors- my parents are throwing the party at arestaurant and also paying for more than half of our wedding, so they need all the extra $$ for that!!
