If it's on Cathedral Ave, then it's WH. I can't tell you what to expect, but they haven't returned my phonecall for info. Can you tell me how you contacted them?

Re: St. Thomas Church Garden City
I called the rectory. Don't have the number with me but you can probably find it in the yellow pages. I left a message with the recptionist who told me a priest would get back to me. It took a week to get the first call.

Re: St. Thomas Church Garden City
The people there were pretty nice, but you have to stay on top of things. We met initially with the deacon, and reserved the date. He was great at returning calls. The people who did our FOCCUS and Pre-Cana were not so good at returning calls, partly I think because they are parishoners who volunteer to do it. If you don't hear from them, I would say, don't wait too long, just call again.
ETA: It is not on Cathedral, it is on Westminster Road, in West Hempstead - FM me if you want more specific info.

Re: St. Thomas Church Garden City
I am meeting the deacon also. What was discussed at your first meeting? Were you able to pick a date when you went the first time?

Re: St. Thomas Church Garden City
The deacon is REALLY nice, so don't worry. The first meeting is mostly informational, he will ask the 2 of you questions like where you made your sacraments, have you been married before, yada, yada, and then he will talk to each of you seperately for about 5 minutes. This is mostly to find out if you are getting married of your own free will and some other stuff that is a little personal, but I didn't feel uncomfortable talking about any of it. If you are meeting the deacon, it might be that you have a Sunday wedding. If that is the case, he will do the wedding. Unless you have your own priest to do the mass, they generally do not do masses on Sundays, usually, the deacon does weddings and they are cermonies.
I think I booked the date over the phone with the receptionist, but then once we met with the deacon, it was confirmed and we went ahead with everything else.
