I am currently reading 'The Everything Jewish Wedding Book' by Helen Latner and she writes:

'Brides of every faith have begun to avoid using the march from Lohengrin (you may know it as 'Here Comes the Bride') and the Mendelssohn recessional as too cliched. For a Jewish wedding, this particular music is particularly inappropriate. The Lohengrin, written by Wagner, a notorious anti-semite, celebrates a Christian union that was nevre consummated; .....Not really the right flavor, when you think about it, no matter how conventional.'

I have read about this before and knowing how important my culture is to me, I could never use the wedding march if it was written by an anti-semite.

The author suggests using melodies from the Song of Songs.

I think I will be using:
Golden Jerusalem for the BP to come out.
Erev Shel Shoshanim for me.

Not sure yet, but for the recessional we're going to use 'Hava Negila.'
