Tomorrow is the day to find out if I have a job! (UPDATED PG 2)

I know some of you read about the situation... She had a month from April 15th to let us know and of course is waiting until the last possible day... I feel sad today and stressed out which is very unlike me, I really have no idea which way this is going to go... I am low on the totem pole but I did get my tenure so that MAY help... who knows? We shall see tomorrow.

Had another rough day too, the kid who tried to jump out the window last week started freaking out a bit in my class cuz he didn't understand a question. My first thought was to get behind him so he couldn't get to a window (I moved his seat AWAY from the window yesterday!)... by the time he left (calm), I was shaking.

Wish me luck for tomorrow, I'll let you know when I do!!

Are you a public school teacher? You think they would let you go after giving you tenure?

I am so sick of the politics etc in school. Anthony & I decided Im staying home next year and were going to TTC while I sub.

I used to teach in Catholic School for the Srs. of St. Joseph. It's worse than public school. At least in public school even the worst schools have some sort of union representation. I was worked to the bone and made less than 1/3 of my present salary now.

For those of you that don't know, there really is no such thing as tenure in CAtholic schools. My old school called it "permanence". It did not mean that they had to give you due process or formally adhere to any seniority at all if they wanted to let you go. Yes, in public school you can be excised even if you are tenured if they have lay-offs, however, they must ask you back before they search elsewhere when those positions open up again. Cathlic schools do not have to adhere to the same process. I once taught with a woman who worked at a catholic school for nearly twenty years and then they just let her go one day because of a personal conflict with administration.
As a lay person in Cathlic school you always have to be worried. WE had one teacher who was living in fear that someone would find out she lived with her boyfriend of over a decade. She couldn't put his name on the answering machine.

Well, even though it is in the diocese handbook that we have to know a month after being deffered (which was on April 15th), my stupid princpal managed to find a way to get it extended even LONGER!! Supposedly it was all worked out but then the pastor decided he had some concerns and called for a meeting... So now we are all in limbo again... Their meeting is on Tuesday so we should know on Wednesday or Thursday. Unfortunately, Wednesday is Field Day and half of us will be out of the building!

Instead of telling us yesterday or this morning that this was all being pushed off again, she avoided telling us. She actually LEFT A NOTE IN OUR MAILBOXES AND LEFT!! She was gone the rest of the day. What a chicken!!!

So, keep the happy thoughts coming until next week and I will let you go. You girls are the best, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!!
