I feel bad... My mom lost a friend b/c of my wedding..
My mom has ( well had) a good friend who she asked me to invite to the wedding.Anyway she was one of the first people to rsvp. She rsvp'd yes for herself and her husband. When my shower invites went out she called my mom to say she couldn't make it but would definitly be at the wedding.
Anyway they were a no show. My mom was having such a good time at the wedding she didn't even notice till the end of the night.
This lady never called, emailed my mom nothing. Never even sent us a card saying congratulations sorry we couldn't attend.
( we paid for our wedding on our own so DH and I paid for her and her husbands uneaten plates)
That was in February. My moms birthday is in April and she gets a birthday card in the mail. The woman didn't even put her return address ( I guess she didnt want my mom to know it was from her until she opened it, but my mom recognized the handwriting right away and had it 'return to sender'
She is sooo mad at her friend she dosent even want to speak with her now. My mom said if there was a good excuse/reason she wouldnt care. They could have at least called to apologize.
I know its not really my fault but I feel horrible about it

Re: I feel bad... My mom lost a friend b/c of my wedding..
You're not the only one. I was in the same situation, our moms did give us some money to help with the wedding, but we paid for most of it ourselves.NONE of my mom's 'friends' attended. She is so hurt that she doesn't want to speak to them again. They all declined the RSVP and sent gifts. I think the issue is that NONE of my mom's friends attended.
One said she couldn't make it because she was just returning from vacation a day or so before the wedding. My mom felt like that was a crummy excuse, considering they had been friends since before I was born.
The other doesn't like to drive too far. But, she RSVP'd late, so my mom called to ask her. She had actually asked ahead of time and the friend said 'I'm not driving all the way out to fuking Long Island'
(we're from NJ) My mom and this lady have had arguments in the past, so this isn't the first 'issue' they've had. My mom was REALLY offended by that because she went to this woman's daughter's wedding, etc. So, when the other daughter planned the wedding, my mom really didn't want to talk to her about any of the planning. So, they didn't invite my mom to the wedding.
Now, my mom doesn't want to be her friend anymore. I feel so bad because she was friends with both of these women for close to 30 years.

That's too bad but it certainly happens and it has nothing to do with you. It just so happened that it took your wedding for something to happen for your mom to see that this friend wasn't really a friend.Welcome New Vendors
