Friday night wedding at Oheka
Invite was Black Tie, has since been changed to Optional (because tacky people complained
) ...Can I wear something short or do I have to go full length dress?
I'm scouring bluefly (not that I want to spend $$ on a dress) ...

I've worn a cocktail dress when DH has on a tux before. I think it's okay.

I think you can go short!
I got the dress in my avatar pic at Marshall's for $19.99! They have tons right now, short and long.

I'd go full length, but I always wear a full length dress to an evening wedding.

I'm wondering if it's really been changed or it was just told to the complainers so they show up not black tie and look foolish!!
I mean really!! One of the complainers was like 'They don't make tuxes in my size'

If it's optional - show up in jeans and cowboy boots like my uncle did

what about a tube top?
Since we missed the e-party because of another wedding and I missed her shower because of a birthday party, I'd like us to be the perfect guests at the wedding ... so Jolly Green tuxedo and I guess I'm buying a dress (again, unless I can magically lose 40lbs or so in less than a month to fit into a slinky size four I have in a closet).

Re: Friday night wedding at Oheka
If you had asked me sooner - I have tons of dresses close to your new size, which is my old size.I don't have cowboy boots or tube tops though - so you're out of luck!

Re: Friday night wedding at Oheka
I just went to a black tie wedding last weekend where all of the men were in tuxes and I was actually very suprised to see most of the women in short dresses. Short is definitely fine. And honestly, I may be in the minority here, but I don't think it's so bad for people to gripe a little about an added $150 expense/inconvenience.
I think black tie optional is fine, but I am one of those people that thinks black tie is just kind of rude. And I can point you to 100 wedding guests that agree.

Re: Friday night wedding at Oheka
I can understand gripes (I mean, I am about having to buy a dress) but not to the father of the groom when you are a family member IMO.Especially since the groom was 'It's all bride's idea' and I'm guessing everyone made her feel bad enough that she caved ...
