Theme Weddings
I am having a hard time picking a "theme" for the wedding. My FI and I are pretty down to earth and would like our theme to be "simple and elegant"...but I cant think of anything. Any Ideas? What kind of themes do people use and is a color a theme?
Thanks!!!!!

Re: Theme Weddings
We did butterflies, but you can do anything you are interested in.... from numbers, colors to locations, beaches, lighthouses, horses.

Re: Theme Weddings
We're not really having a "theme", the theme is just "us". Whatever we like or want to do is what we're doing. I would have felt too limited if I was doing a theme. A lot of the ideas are nice, but they're just not for me.

Re: Theme Weddings
I really like the fall theme idea...a friend of mine is using that theme for her October wedding and there are lots of things you can do with it without being too limited.

Re: Theme Weddings
You certainly don't have to have a theme. Tho we're going with the same "simple but elegant" idea!!
You can pick a color and just keep that running throughout your wedding, that's what we're doing. If you're having trouble coming up with a theme then it'll prob be difficult to stick to it since you may not be passionate about it.
I would just start planning and not worry about it, and you never know the theme might just create itself over time.

Re: Theme Weddings
Well thats what I started to do...just plan and see what happens. A theme just emerged when I planned my engagement party but that doesnt seem to be happening here. Maybe I need to browse in some craft store and see what they have, but keep the ideas coming this is really helpful.

I was wondering if I wanted a theme too...i am having my reception by the water...so I was thinking "lighthouses...or sailboats"...but now I am doing calla lillies (not officially), but that is the only flower I am using...and they come in all colors....my colors are pink and green...

That is another thing I am having a hard time picking...flowers and colors. I guess there are too many options.

Re: Theme Weddings
I'm doing a summer theme - beach, seashells, blues and greens.
If I was getting married in December, I would do a red/white Xmas theme - cause I LOVE Xmas. If I was getting married in the fall, I would def. do a maple leaf, oranges/red theme (maple syrup favor, etc).
I also like flower theme - but have known people to do a simple color-scheme theme! Really whatever floats your boat!

How about a silver & gold theme? or red? or black & white?

Re: Theme Weddings
We don;t really have a theme. DF wanted to do Ice & Snow theme. but i hate winter, and even though we are getting married in Feb, I wanted to see spring colors. So no theme in particular

I am doing a fall theme since we are getting married the day before Thanksgiving. I also have put some Disney touches to it (the wording on my invitations, cake topper)

Re: Theme Weddings
My fh and I are doing a medieval autumn theme. But that may not be your thing. You could try an angel theme, or since you are having a late summer wedding, why not try a beach theme, or a early fall theme. I knew someone whos theme was "love is magic" and they hired a magican. just be creative and think about what fits the two of you. My FH and I met at the NY Renaissance Faire, soa medieval theme was perfect. Think about how you two met, what happened in your relationship, how he proposed or how you did, and think about what is special to the both of you!

Re: Theme Weddings
We are doing a beach theme since we're getting married on the water and taking our pics on the beach. We are also using all calla lilies so that's kind of a secondary theme.
