What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

I keep going back and forth as to whether I want table names and a mild theme for my wedding. What are your thoughts? Are table names cute, or cheesy?

Re: What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

it's all in the execution... I think they are a creative touch.

You can have both a name and a number to avoid the guest confusion.

If I do table names, I will have numbers too. Don't want the guests running around all confused - especially after drinking at the CH! I think table names are cute!

Re: What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

I am thinking of doing this for my wedding, I am having a fall themed wedding. I like the idea of using the names of fall leaves as table names with the table number on it.

Re: What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

I think they're cute, but . . . you have to also do numbers or you will have problems with drunk guests and the wait staff.

Re: What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

I wouldn't do names only b/c so many people are used to numbers. And some people after a fw drinks..might not remember. (But I guess that's what place cards are for!) I thin you can do whatever!

Re: What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

I was going back and forth on this one too. I think people can be easily confused by table names. I love the combination of names and numbers! I never thought of that. What a great idea!!!

Re: What are your feelings on table names vs. table numbers?

I really would like to do the table name thing - but we are having about 30 tables ... I can't think of 30 names of places where we had been or anything similar. What types of names is everyone doing.
Since FH is a big Hockey fan I offered to use all of the NHL team names but he said it would be like a Bar/ Bat Mitzvah then....
Any Ideas...

I think you have to do numbers if you are doing names, otherwise the idea goes from romantic to annoying.
