Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged"

aka...abosolute torture. It was the only book that I refused to read in college and used cliffs notes to write my paper

I LOVED that book!! I will say though, that it took me about 4 times to get past the first 50 pages but once I did, I couldn't put it down.

I hated Wicked, didn't finish it, and I never do that. I also hated A Wrinkle In Time (I read it in 5th grade and thought is was the worst book, it's stuck with me since as being the WORST book of all time!!!)

Re: Worst Book

I write and most of the time when I read a bad book I tolerate it, because I know how painstaking it is to put forth that much time and effort. The only two books I can say wasted my time as well as the authors for even writing were The Pearl and The Giver.

I just finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night . I don' t even remember who the author is. Wasn't impressed with it at all...

I loved it too....I agree you need to have some experience with Autism to really appreciate it. My mom tried to read it a number of times and just couldn't get into it at all

I don't know. I've worked with autistic kids and I still wasn't a fan of this book.

i LOVED lovely bones....i thought it gave great prespective on what it would be like to have your life end so traumatically and to be in heaven before you're ready. it was very very sad and horrific in the beginning though...but i loved it. :)

Re: Worst Book

I really strongly disliked "The Corrections" by Jonathan Franzen. I thought it was awful. I pushed myself to finish it. I should have given up. What a waste of time!

Re: Worst Book

DEFINITELY

"Everyone Worth Knowing" by Lauren Weisberger (She wrote The Devil Wears Prada)

It was soooo cheesy and painful.

the secret life of bees
awful.
I was sick the week before our wedding and missed 2 days from work. that's the ONLY reason why i finished it.
and now i refuse to read the mermaid chair which people say is good - it's by the same author.

I did not care for The Mermaid Chair-though I did enjoy Secret lives of bees.

I can't stand Naked, Dry, Running With Scissors, etc. I kind of liked Running With Scissors when I first read it, then I got into a rut of reading all those "look at my crazy life and what I have lived through" and I'm just really over them.

Trainspotting. I think it was the vernacular, it was written in a British slang, and I just couldn't do it!

I didn't like Augusten Burroughs- Running With Scissors-but I loved The Secret Life of Bees. Have not gotten around to The Mermaid Chair.
