North Ritz Club

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there are any brides out there getting married (or who got married) at the NRC. Any feedback? So far I have only heard very positive things about it.

Thanks!

A friend of mine is getting married there in August and she has very high standards so I'm sure it's great there. I also went to school with the owners sons.

Thanks ladies. I have not yet gone for a tasting, but they said the next one is sometime in March. Are any of you planning on decorating the ceiling through the florist?

Amy0405 had her florist (Pedestals) decorate the ceiling of the dance floor with tulle and lights I believe.

I didnt decorate the ceiling- i just had the florist put silk material on the staircase

Re: North Ritz Club

Thanks Attica and Marymoon. The NRC told me the only florist they allow to touch their ceiling is Pedestals.

Attica - What type of music did your band play? DId you have the raw seafood and viennese at your wedding? Also, how many people attended? I am concerned that we may be tight in there.

We had a band and DJ - the band played only greek and we had the DJ play the popular American and Greek songs. I absolutely loved both my band and dj. There always people on the dance floor and a lot of guests raved about how good they were.

For our cocktail we had shrimp cocktail, clams and oysters - the cocktail hour and NRC is amazing. - so many guests were saying it was the best they had ever been to. Their food overall is very good. One of my friends was raving about the salad and added that he didnt even like salad - but he really enjoyed it there.

We also had the viennese - unfortunately i didnt get to see it - we were busy dancing - but i know the guests enjoyed it and were amazed by how much stuff there was to taste. I have it on my video - it does look great!

I had about 185 people at my wedding with round tables. They say that you can have round tables up to 260 people and then you have to have oval tables up to i think 320 (i am not sure about htat number). We had a lot of room. I didnt want a very packed room at all - I originally wanted a small wedding (more like 100 people) and was afraid that we would have to many guests - but in the end it worked out great.

How many guests are you expecting??

Re: North Ritz Club

Thanks for the info. We are inviting about 330 (but that includes about 30-40 people who live in Greece and Italy). We saw the NRC set for 250 w/ oval tables and I was getting nervous since it was starting to look a bit tight, but now I booked it so whatever happens happens!! My mom thought we could still fit in another 2 - 3 tables.

We are also having both the seafood and viennese.

Where did you take pictures? I am thinking about choosing the earlier church ceremony to have more time for pics in between (possibly stopping at Old Westbury Gardens), but my mom doesn't agree as she says we will have to be up much earlier that morning to get ready, and is concerned that there is too much of a time gap from the guests' perspective.

Next we are trying to find the musical entertainment. In a perfect world I would like to find a band that knows how to play and sing greek, italian and american. All the greek bands I keep calling are saying that the solution is to hire a DJ to take care of the italian and american, which I don't think is fair to have live music for the greek and CDs for the italian and american. I am just so shocked that there are no bands out there that are mixed (Greek & Italian) as many Greeks and Italians get married.

Re: North Ritz Club

It's kind of hard to get someone other than a greek band to play greek music (excluding just playing CDs) because they use a special instrument called a bouzouki and the singers have to know how to speak Greek in order for it to sound good. I know exactly how your FMIL feels because that is the way my mom feels.

Luckily though as far as the italian is concerned, the instruments they use are those that are most commonly used, so you don't necessarily have to get an italian band. There are many american bands that sing italian very nice, however, they cannot do the Greek, as I have already inquired!!!

I'll let you know if I find anything. The last resort for me will be to get a greek band and dj (to play italian and american cds).

Good luck and keep me posted too.
