Q: How long B4 RSVP Date should you mail invites?

I'm in a time crunch here due to certain circumstances (or else I'd order/send earlier) but I want to know what is standard for sending out invites.

How long b4 the RSVP date should you mail them?

Thanks so much

Re: Q: How long B4 RSVP Date should you mail invites?

From a website....

Two months before the wedding
• Determine exact postage needed (take a fully assembled invitation ensemble to your local post office to be weighed to determine exact postage needed)
• Finalize invitations for mailing and determine mailing date - it is customary to send wedding invitations 6 weeks before your wedding, although 8 weeks is becoming more common
Three Weeks Before The Wedding
• Make your response date 2-3 weeks before the wedding. Caterers usually need to know 2-3 weeks in advance how many people they will be serving

Re: Q: How long B4 RSVP Date should you mail invites?

Typically (so this is a slight variation on any 'rule' you may find), they are sent out around 6-8 weeks/2 months before the wedding....with the RSVP date a month before the wedding...

example..wedding is June 1, mail invites on April 1...and RSVP by May 1....some caterers want to know the number sooner than a couple of weeks...and by making the RSVP a month ahead, then if you have stragglers who forgot, you still have some time to make phone calls to see if they are coming or not.

We have a very high number of OOTs so ours are going out in the next week or so...Our RSVP date is still one month before our wedding, but we want people to have significant notice....my FILs didn't' give me their completed list (addresses) until yesterday....so ALL of their OOTs did NOT receive a STD card.

Invites are one of the most frustrating things in wedding planning I've discovered....you gotta know who you're inviting, where they live, who they are bringing.....then you gotta put them all together....and that's after you look at 100s of invites and finally pick one! Best of luck to you!!
