I use state farm.

Its a completely separate 'personal articles' policy....no homeowners or renters insurance necessary.

The rate is based on where you live, and how much you want to insure.

(A safe bet is to get an appraisal for about 1/3 more than you paid...to allow for inflation, etc.)

I pay $50 a year.

Re: Ring Insurance ...

We put a rider on our renter's insurance policy. You do not have to own a home to insure your ring. I for one, would not wear a ring of great value without insuring it. I do not work in a safe environment. As much as a ring represents sentiment, it's purchase is a huge investment for young people to risk theft or loss without insurance.

Re: Ring Insurance ...

We temporarily insured it with the jewerly store just so if something would happen when FH left the store with it.

We will add to home insurance. You can get insurance just for it if you want to. We have All State. You can call an agent and ask them what they can offer.

I am also using state farm.... I'm paying about $100/yr... & it covers EVERYTHING.

Re: Ring Insurance ...

I useState Farm too...

We called around and tried to get a good deal and state Farm had the best. When FI tried to put it under his homeowner's policy - it was MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE than if I filed a seperate policy.

So I took it out myself and pay it separately.

Another vote for the State Farm Personal Articles Policy. My policy cost is between these two ladies. No deductable and the policy covers appreciation value.

Re: Ring Insurance ...

My FH had the ring insured before her even left the Jewlers he said

He proposed on the beach and he said he kept having nightmares of spending the whole day sifting through the sand looking for the ring after I dropped it

WEll I dind't drop the ring But it was insured.

I suggest you take our a personal articles policy on the ring. This way, if the ring is ever stole or you lose it, its covered. Also, God forbid the diamond ever gets loose an falls out that is covered to.

All you need is a written appraisal from a jewler and the insurance agency willprobably take a picture of it.
Defenitely get it insured!!!!

Re: Ring Insurance ...

We have my ring insured through Allstate, under our renters insurance policy. I believe it's $18 per year (for every thousand it's worth).

HTH!!
