I agree. I know some people invite people just to the ceremony, but I wouldn't. JMO

Yes, it happened to me once with a co-worker. She invited a few people from the office...making sure we knew about her registry. After the ceremony, there was a small reception (30 minutes) with a table for gifts right there at the church. Only to find out that only a few of the guests were invited to the 'real' reception afterwards (which I was not part of and did not know about). Once in my car, that's when I realized I should have taken my present back from the table and return it.

Re: Who do you invite to your ceremony if....
I guess the way I think about it is this: if you're not important enough to me to be invited to the ceremony, then you probably aren't important enough to me for me to pay the absurb amount of money it's costing me per plate for you to enjoy the reception!

Re: Who do you invite to your ceremony if....
Everyone that is invited to my reception is invited to the ceremony. I can't afford to include everyone from my office (45 people, without SO) on the invite list. The word will be spread that everyone is welcome to come to the ceremony, and I will have light refreshments available after for all those in attendance. My ceremony is not at my reception hall. If it was I wouldn't spread the word about the ceremony at all, it would be by written invitation only.
