People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

I'm not going to mention names/who the individual is due to possible lurking, but how would you feel if everything you seemed to do towards/for the wedding the person was making comments like oh whats the point, etc. or implying its 'tacky' (this word wasn't used but something similar) and then the same person turns around and wants to do the same thing or something similar?

At first I was thinking it really wasn't like that even though someone else had said it seemed to be happening, but now I see it more and more.

Part of me is like well I guess its a form of flattery, but the other part is like why make comments, and then turn around and say you now want to do the same thing. and don't you have your own ideas that you can use you know? And its not just wedding related, its with other things to which makes me think is this person jealous or something?

Re: People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

The best suggestion is to ignore the person. There are some people who just like problems. Continue with your wedding planning for all you know this person is just playing childish games with you

I agree too! People get a little silly when it comes to weddings for some reason!

Re: People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

I totally agree just to ignore them! Don't worry - if a person is copying every thing you are doing for your wedding, that means that they don't want their wedding to be their wedding. It is different then getting ideas from other brides and making them your own!

Just ignore them!!

Re: People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

On the copying part - I've told several of my friends that I'll probably 'steal' some of their ideas for my wedding, and they are flattered. One girl even tried to push me to have it at the same reception hall!

On the making nasty comments - some people like to offer their unsolicited advice, others think they know the best for everyone, and others are just biotches. If it were me I'd try to ignore it and continue on with my plans. It's easier to say than do, but don't let anyone else affect your day. Do what makes you happy.

Yeah exactly if the person had said oh i love that idea, i might borrow it, it wouldnt bother me, but to make comments and then turn around and say you're doing the same thing.

Re: People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

You hit the nail on the head when you said jealousy. What else explains it...? I mean she loves your ideas, and probably doesn't want you to use them so that she can use them and claim them as originals.

I would probably stop asking for advise or throwing ideas at her, but only becuase it seems clear that she won't be offering any real wisdom.

Think of it this way... you must have some really AWESOME ideas to inspire her jealousy!

Re: People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

OMG, my cousin is such a 'copier'! For my invites, I had these really nice monogram seals to close over the flap.. When she sent her invites out (a few months later), she ordered the EXACT same ones. They were so many to chose from, why the same ones as me???

Re: People who seem to want to 'copy' your wedding

I had an EX- friend who used to do that to me all the time. I mean with everything. Clothes, hair, the car, drinks, food, hobbies...I mean it was rediculous!

I think it's a combination of two things- jealousy and poor self identity. She didn't have her own style or way of things bc she didn't know what kind of individual she was. More of the follower type than the leader. The jealousy part of it is not about what you have but that you have the mind to think of the idea that she likes but she is angry bc she didn't think of it first- jealousy of your individuality.

Does this make sense to you?
