E-party gift from univited guest. I feel terrible.

Yesterday we had our E party. We had to keep the guest list small, cause our friends hosted at their house and the yard is small and if it rained, space is limited inside. Ok, I have a 1st cousin, that I rarely see (just on holidays and sometimes I get invited to his kid's parties). I didn't invite this cousin, cause he's a rude person, makes racial comments, makes comments about people being overweight to their face, etc. Meanwhile, everyone says, he's just joking. However, my brother lives around the block from him and is at his house almost everyday. So yesterday, my brother brings a gift from this cousin to our e-party. It was something from our registry. It was obviously all the wife's doing, cause he's a man and wouldn't think of all that. I feel terrible now. Do you think I should call the wife and tell her that we had to keep it small? Or should I just send a thank you card and leave it at that.

This is where me and the world clash. I don't get offended or hurt by these things. I'm not invited so i'm not invited. Big deal. I sent a gift, hope the person has a good time, and that's that. I know people stew over this stuff. Life's too short to care about things like that!

Don't worry about not inviting the person! Just send a thank you for the gift. No biggie.

A lot of people send engagement gifts, regardless of whether there is a party.

i had that happen to me. the gift came from someone who we barely knew, but saw at family functions since this person is the sister in law of one of fh's aunt's. we didnt' even think to invite her. i just sent her a nice thank you card. oh wait i think i forget to send her one???? let me go do that now. thanks for the reminder.

I had a similar situation from my bridal shower... I just sent a nice thank you note.

We had a few people who sent presents that weren't invited-we tried to keep it small with 75 people-we just sent thank yous.
