Just noticed a typo on my invites! NOW I'm Freaking OUT!

I was preparing to stuff all of my invites as I wanted to get them all in the mail by this week the latest. Well, as I was inserting the tissue paper, I noticed the typo!

Instead of the invite reading E__ and W__ request the honour of your presence at their marriage, it says: E_ and W__ request the honour of our presence at their marriage. I could not sleep all night thinking about it!

Plus, I spent over 2 hours gluing individual frikking Swarovski crystals to the front of each invite!! Only for them to have a typo!!? I don't know why I didn't see it sooner. Now I have to shell out more $ to get them re-printed.

Arrrgh! I feel like my heads gonna explode!

F! That stinks! I am so sorry. You would think that they just use standard templates and insert the names?? Maybe they will cut you a break on the re-print.

It might not be b/c they can technically say 'you approved the proof' and try to blame you-- but fight them on it!!

I had a friend approve a proof but there was an error that she and like 10 others didn't catch-- and they ended up splitting the cost of the re-print with her-- so HTH!!! Sorry- it sux!!

OMG!!!! That stinks! You shouldn't have to pay for re-prints on that! That was clearly their mistake on something that is so common!

I agree. If you gave them the correct spelling, then you shouldn't have to pay. This happened to me, not with a spelling, but with damaged invites, and they sent me new ones at no charge.

You still have a little time to get them re done, make a stink with the lady who did it and see if she'll reprint it!!!! good luck!!!

Did u make your invites yourself or did you order them from someone? If you ordered them from an invitation place, I'm sure they will fix the problem for nothing since it was there fault!!

yeah, that almost happened to us a couple times....

My mom spotted a few typos on our final proofs after we were SURE they were perfect...

one of them was the wedding date!!!!! June 7 instead of 9!!!!



I wouldn't be surprised if there are still a few typos...

I also agree - I would try to see what they could do for you because it was clearly their mistake. And to be honest with you, I had to read it 3x's to see what was wrong. I read things very fast so I read right by it. I just put in the word I knew it was supposed to be because our minds automatically do that, so if you can't get it fixed I don't think it would be the end of the world. Good luck sweetie!!!!

Update:
I called the invite company, and they were really nice about everything. I turns out, that I did approve the proof with the 'y' missing in 'your' - making it read 'our'

I don't know WHY I didn't see it! I'm usually such a grammar whore! (for important things like this) I feel like such an airhead! I'm SO pissed at myself right now, b/c I know it was my fault.

Anyway, they are willing to reprint my invites for me, and assemble them (tie on ribbon). They are going to give me a huge discount on them as well. I'll only have to shell out $160 more, which I think is worth it. It really is the type of error that the eye just skims over, and most people would probably not even notice it, but since I noticed, I know others will too.

FH does not want to shell out the extra $. He wants to mail them out as is.
I know it would EAT at me to know that my bosses, etc. Received invites with a typo!! Not to mention that the first pics in a wedding album is usually a close up of the invite. I would have to look at that typo every time I looked at my wedding pics, and be stressed.

With FH laid off right now, this is a REALLY unwelcome expense. Thank goodness I have parties coming up to help pay for all these little surprise expenses!

Now to brace myself for gluing on all those crystals all over again!

ya know....thank god they are willing to work with you, but even though you approved them....shouldnt the ppl that work there have caught that themselves???? i mean come on.....they are selling you a product it is there responsibility to make sure its right......
your excited and anxious so anyone one of us could make the same mistake!!!

Well $160 isn't bad for reprints! I have a feeling they felt a bit stupid for not noticing the 'y' missing either...I used to do typesetting & when something seemed odd like that I'd bring it to someone's attention...beleive me...it happens all the time!!! Once we ran a job with 'Salmon Brothers' instead of 'Salomon Brothers'...oops...it was like a $5k order!! The $160 will be worth your piece of mind...even though it stinks to have to pay...FH is laid off too so i hear ya!!!

Agreed! I am so sorry to hear that..>I too just sent out my invitations and that really really ***** to have happen. If they charge u, I would cause a scene, say your reporting them to the BBB....did you see a proof beforehand?
