We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

We got our floor plan yesterday. We went to go pick our menu. When the guy at the hall wrote out the floor plan, he put the bride on the left and the groom on the right. He wrote bride's guests on the right and groom's guest on the left. Is that correct? The bride sits on the side of the grooms guests and the groom sits on the side of the brides? It doesn't sound right. Did he make a mistake? What did you do?

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

Usually the Bride sits on the same side as her guests, which is the odd-numbered table side, and the Groom sides on the side where the even-numbered tables are. That's what I did and that's what I've always seen.

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

That makes more sense. The man must have made a mistake when he wrote it down then. Does the groom sit on the left or the right? Does it matter?

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

I don't think it matters -- I sat on the right (meaning I was facing the dance floor) and my husband sat on the left, but that was the way my hall had it set up, odds on the right, evens on the left. Just tell your hall that you want to sit on the same side as your family -- actually, all you have to do is just sit there after your dance, it's not like they have a sign saying 'Bride'!! LOL :)

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

No problem! Good luck to you -- it's coming up soon! How exciting! Don't worry, all the little things left on your never-ending list will all fall in place (something my hubby kept telling me and I wanted to kill him because I didn't believe it, but it's true)!!!!

Where is your reception?

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

We mixed up brides side and grooms side, all different people sitting together. Plus we had so many friends that were there for both of us. I say do it anyway you like.

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

We're having our reception at the Manor East in Massapequa. our guests will be mixed up a lot too because my family is small. My FH has a lot more guests on the list than I do. Six more weeks. We can't wait!!!!

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

I sat on the same side as my guests. Just tell him that is the way you are going to go, if you want to. It doesnt seem right to me the other way. Just my opinion

Cindy, I know. The man must have made a mistake when he drew the picture. I just had to check with all of you because it didn't seem right to me.

Re: Former Manor East Bride

Novemberbride,

Frank sat on the left with his family and I sat on the right. He had about 80 more people than me.

FYI- There is one table adjacent a 'storage' room They keep ice and stuff in there. The waiters were in there off and on. Find out what table will be placed there and sit people there who wont mind. I put my friends at that table and they were either dancing or too drunk to care!! LOL!! But just wanted to give you a heads up.

Reena

Do you know who youre matr'd (sp?) is? I had Jeannine she was magnifcent!! Ask for her if you can you wont regret it!!

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

We didn't know which was the 'correct' side for us to sit at our table when doing the seating chart .. and didn't really think that it mattered ... but I did feel it was important for me to sit to the side my family was at, and for him to be at the side his family was at. Most of the people at the reception were from my side, either family-related or work-related. But, I sat on the side my family was on .. they were to my right .. my husband was sitting at my left.

Just do the seating chart however it works best for seating your guests comfortably, then just sit on whichever side of the table you feel is appropriate .. unless there is some tradition that the bride must be at the groom's right/left, and you want to follow that tradition. Until this thread .. I had never heard that Bride-Odd, Groom-Even table number thing (what Debbie said) .. but I didn't really do things by the 'rules.'

Re: We got our floor plan yesterday. Question for you.

I guess that odd number tables and even number tables is just how my hall does it. I'm sure every place is different.
