We didn't have our wedding yet, but my MOH, who is also my FSIL gave a speech at our engagement party. She said she finally got the sister she always wanted

Do maids of honor generally do a speech at the wedding? I thought they did it at the rehersal dinner.

Re: what was the best maid of honor speech you've heard?
I've known my MOH for almost 20 years and her speech was great. It was the only time during my whole wedding I cried a bit. She included the silly little things that only we would've done and how I'm like a sister to her (even if she already has 2) and that now she has the brother she always wanted too.

Re: what was the best maid of honor speech you've heard?
The speech I made for my sister on her wedding day was really great. I didn't even think I had it in me. I was only 19, and in college, but it was still amazing. There was not a dry eye in the room. I was crying, but not like annoying hysterically crying so no one could understand me. It also helped that I came after the best man, who talked for SO long and made no sense. So I started my speech with...'Okay...I'll make this short and sweet.' Everyone was laughing.

At my friend's wedding her sister was the moh, and she gave such a sweet speech right from the heart... I loved it!!!My 'moh' gave a very forgettable, boring speech. She read it to me 2 days before and it sounded great... then I guess when the time came she got nervous and it didn't come out right... it was a mess.

Honestly the speech my MOH gave was incredible. I felt like I was sitting there with my mouth open because I was in awe of her entire speech. She had serious stuff and funny stuff and stuff about DH in there. It was the perfect speech. You hear me in the video saying, 'OMG your speech was soooo good'.

Re: what was the best maid of honor speech you've heard?
not to toot my own horn lol.....but the speech I did for my sisters wedding was pretty darn good! I only wrote it the night before (I work well under pressure lol) and I kept thinking where do I start??? So I used a really cute/funny story about my sis & BIL when they first started dating 7 yrs earlier, and then worked it into me & my sis growing up (more funny moments thrown in there) and then I wound that in to my sis & BIL now having each other just as me & my sis did growing up.....it had everyone laughing and crying....it was awesome!! but I have to say if my sister didn't provide constant material by being the goofy girl that she is, I wouldn't have even had the funny story in there....so I guess we both deserve credit!!

Re: what was the best maid of honor speech you've heard?
I gave the following toast at my friend's wedding, and ppl were coming up to me all night telling me it made them cry:In our lifetimes, we are gifted a small number of truly 'significant moments'. They start small enough, say, riding a two-wheeler. These moments grow in significance- going to college, making friends who will be with you for a lifetime…but above all, the perfect, momentous moment when you look into the eyes of the most loving, caring, giving, individual that you've ever known and realize you've found true love. A moment like this and the commitment which follows should be celebrated to its fullest.
My Greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years your love for each other will so deepen and grow so much that years from now, you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day that you loved each other the least.

Re: what was the best maid of honor speech you've heard?
i think something that really 'makes' a speech like this is including personal stories, etc as well as the typical ' congrats, you've found the man of your dreams' stuff.my MOH didn't give a speech, but the best man's speech was great! he and DH had been friends since middle school, so he talked about some funny things that happened to them growing up, and then he talked about a cruise he had gone on with DH and i and how he could tell after that week that i was a 'keeper' LOL
its also cool if you can tie it all together at the end. at our friends wedding, the grooms dad did a speech. 'mike' the groom is an engineer, and has been building things since he was very little. so his dad talked about how, even when he was little, mike always had to build things perfectly and strong and build them to last ( even a bird house)... and how he knew that they would build their marriage to last and be strong, too..... it was just so cute how he tied it all in together at the end.

Re: what was the best maid of honor speech you've heard?
I gave a really good speech for MrsBartontoBe's wedding....I think my fav part is what I closed with:
'May you both have a day of perfection, a night of bliss, a wonderful, healthy family and may your home always be too small to hold all those who love you.'
I had to practice it 1,000 times before i actually said it because I couldn't geth through that last part LMFAO....
