Met with priest last night - he told us an awful story

I've been so anxious about meeting the priest (there's that Catholic guilt for you) that I thought it was last Wednesday, then I thought it was this Wednesday, but the meeting had been scheduled all along for last night. I had it in my date book the whole time but didn't trust what I wrote. If this is any indication of what the rest of my planning will be like I'll be not only Clueless, but Brainless.

Anyway, the meeting went really well, we told him we lived together, that my FH hadn't made his communion or confirmation, and after a couple of raised eyebrows and some talk about dates, we left with lots of information and FH is signed up for some adult Religious Ed!

He'll be making the sacraments this May.

So on to the awful story - the priest said that if we want to change our date (tentatively set for Oct. 4, 2004, but we may make it for March 17, 2004) we MUST see him in person and tell him. Reason is, in a parish where he used to work a jealous ex-girlfriend of the fh went around calling and cancelling all the vendors and the church of the couple.

Can you imagine? Well, I'm glad this part is over, now we're on to pre-cana!

Did she get fired? How can she do that? What vendor allows a stranger to cancel them anyway?

I heard of a similar story that an ex-girl friend once called or went to where the couple was registered and kept changing everything on the registry. How horrible can people be.
