PRAYERS for PeterNinaMom and Husband!!!!!!!!!!!

Just spoke to Liz, and she and her Husband could use a prayer covering, ladies!! Gary just had a 7 hr. quadruple heart bypass!!!! Please pray for his quick healing, and for both of them to have strength to get through this difficult time!! Thanks!!! Mary MOB

When I got to the hospital yesterday they were putting him in a room. So he was out of ICU not even 24 hours after surgery which as Mary said took a little over 7 hours. I'll tell you modern medicine is amazing. He is doing well and even ate which is a very good sign. He may come home tomorrow (Monday). The healing process should be a little quicker since they did a minimal invasive procedure where they didn't break the breast bone and they went in from his left pectorial muscle. It may hurt a little more right now but in the long run they said it will heal quicker. Amazing isn't it? He was lucky that he was a candidate for this procedure too and that was because of his age, 49, but they weren't sure if they would be able to do it until they actually started the surgery so I didn't know until they were almost done that they actually did it that way. Needless to say he was very happy when he woke up to find out that they were able to do it. My brother is upset because they weren't able to do that for him and wasn't even told about it.
Anyway ladies thanks for the prayers and keep them coming until he is totally out of any danger. I'll keep you all informed.

Oh My!!! I am so sorry to hear this about your husband but the wonderful thing is that now he's fixed. My MIL had this surgery (quintuple) when she was 80. The had to crack her chestbone, but she had the surgery on a Wed. and was out on Friday. It's truly amazing. BTW she's still with us and just had her 89th birthday in March. I will keep you in my prayers.

Had a little set back yesterday, but stable again. Apparently his heart started beating a little too quickly which the doctor said is normal after such an operation. They shocked him and put him on meds which he may or may not have to stay on because his heart may go back to its normal rythem once the swelling goes down. It was a little scary since they took him to ICU to do it, but they said that was just precautionary and because they have all the equipment there. Hopefully I'll have no surprises when I get there a little later today.

Hi ladies, Gary is home and doing better. We go for a blood test on Wednesday and then next WEdnesday the 7th we go to both the cardiologist and the surgeon. Hopefully we will get a good report.
I came to work today because Gary needs to start moving around a little more and with me home he just asks me to get him anything he needs. So a little tough love is in order. He agreed too that he needs to start doing things for himself and that I needed to get back to some type of normalcy in my life.

Aww thank you Jenn. Gary is doing better (thank god) we are going today for a blood test. We also need to show the doctor (our GP) a spot where they either tried or put and IV in that is somewhat swollen. I have a feeling they are going to have to lance it to let fluid out. My son, Michael, who works in a hospital and does CAT Scan, MRIs, x-rays etc. also puts in IVs and said it looks like they tried and somehow bruised him. I guess not everything can go smoothly. Hopefully all will be okay.

Glad to hear that Gary is doing well enough for you to return to work. how did you make out at the doctor today? Any problem with that spot where he had an IV?
