Sea Sick

I get sea sick a lot and I am going on a cruise. I feel like I have tried everything, but nothing works. Has anything worked really well that you know of? I am trying to get a prescription, since otc has failed me.

Any suggestions?

Re: Sea Sick

Have you tried the accupressure bands that go around your wrist ?
One of the guys that cruised with us two years ago swore by them. He had no problem whatsoever the entire cruise.

If you do start to feel queasy, then go up on deck into the fresh air and look at the horizon. That gets your equilibrium back into sync.

Re: Sea Sick

Honestly, forget EVERYTHING ELSE out there an get a prescription for TransDermScop - they're patches that you apply one at a time behind your ear. After 3 days, you take that one off and put a new one behind your opposite ear, repeat every 3 days.

THEY ARE AMAZING! I have crazy motion sickness, but I can go on cruises no problem with these. Funny thing - you'll see a TON of people on the cruise with them!!!! They're flesh tone small round patches.

Seriously, best thing out there!!!

The doctor told me about these, but he said there are side effects that make you dried out and dehydrated. He was hesitant to prescribe it. Have you noticed any side effect with it?

Re: Sea Sick

DH was seasick our entire cruise a couple of years ago- but we had very rough seas. I got sick too 2 nights. We took the stuff they hand out on the boat- I think it was bonine. It worked- but I think its only because it makes you fall asleep. Def try bringing Ginger tablets with you. That might help!

Yes I just remembered the ginger. On our HM, we went snorkeling and they gave me ginger candy on the boat and it did help. Thanks!

Honestly never noticed these side effects. Whenever I've been on a cruise it's been hot anyway, so I just made sure to drink LOTS of fluids.
