I can't believe...
That the photographer that I was going to book would charge an outrageous price... IMO, 4,200 dollars for my album and two parent albums is was over priced... The parent albums were going to have 24 pics and mine, 30. I visited them today and I was really excited, they showed me pics and they were okay, i didnt love them. until they told me that for my proofs my album and two parent albums it would be 4,200.... Don't you ladies think that its a little too much? So, ladies how much are you girls paying for your photogs? what comes included in your package and who did you book with? I need ideas. Im in need of a photog....again.Also, the RH that I booked with demands that anyone that is not on their 'exclusive list of recommendations' needs to have a 'valid certificate of insurance' Which makes things alot harder for me....

Re: I can't believe...
I think that is overpriced for when you are getting. I am getting 2 photographers(they need overtime also), a magazine style album (no parent albums though) and a videographer for 12 hours, all the proofs, and an eshoot...there are other things as well...FM me if you want more info

Re: I can't believe...
my album wasnt even like real pics, they were pics that were going to be printed on some cardboard like thing. I was just asking for regular albums, nothing fancy.

Re: I can't believe...
$4200 for a photog only does seem high to me. We are paying around $5k for photo, video, albums, etc. You can definitely do better. We are using Duet and they have packages for <$5k.

I dont wanna pay for their name, I wanna pay for their photos.

Re: I can't believe...
$4500 (i think packages start at 3500 and go up to 7000, higher packages just included more time and epics but we didnt need either, and also more album pages). Our photog was well worth the price for us!!!...a good photog is the best investment for a wedding IMO!!! this is one area that you don't want to skimp, if its in your budget and youre able. The $4500 included:
-two photographers for 9 hours
-unlimited number of photos taken and the couples receive a minimum of 600 (we got 1000+)
-images as paper proofs (4x6 unmarked prints) and i think the same images as high resolution files on a CD or DVD once we finish our album
-a custom designed 10x10 album with 40 sides (20 pages)- we used like 100-110 pics for album.
-she posted teaser pics on her blog like 2 days later.
-approximately 3-4 weeks after the wedding, an online private gallery was available so friends and family could also view and purchase the wedding images

Re: I can't believe...
We used Duet for a photo/video package. It was more than what you stated, but the quote was a lot more reasonable than what other folks were charging. There are other packages available, too, so I recommend you speak with them regarding your budget. We're very pleased with our photos and DVD.
Also, the RH that I booked with demands that anyone that is not on their 'exclusive list of recommendations' needs to have a 'valid certificate of insurance' Which makes things alot harder for me....
This is customary for any vendor not on an RH's recommended list. It should be no problem for the vendor to generate and send to the RH.

Re: I can't believe...
Many of the photogs that Ive been to have tried to avoid the question of insurance. Even one told me that what am i talking about that doesnt refer to photogs only to djs... i got so upset that I told them to nvm and I left. I'm not paying for the photos, and the person told me i can choose w/e i want and that money is not an object, but for 3 little albums, i think the price is over board, for those pics only.

OH and the valid cert of insurance is normal, all businesses must have this to be in business. It doesnt affect you at all. It justmeans your vendor has to fax it over before your wedding-this isnt something you have to worry about-its normal practice

they shouldnt be-every RH asks for this from the vendors....usually they dont need it from their recommended vendors b/c they alreayd have it on file. In order to be a valid/legit business you HAVE to have insurance-thats a law-when you ask about it ask why its such an issue? All my vendors sent this over to my RH no problem-i didnt even have to talk to them about it. They knew it was normal practice.
Basically-you can open a business without it but you need it in order to operate.
