Pottery Barn--we have the Sumatra collection. We got the bed and the dresser from the outlets and night stands from the store.

Thanks ladies ! Jen what did you get from Ethan Allen can I see?Anyone have pics of their stuff?
I want white with a wood finish on top of the dressers. The only one I've seen is in JC Penney... which is cool but some of it is made out of pressed wood. I want it to last for a long time.

Same for us. Eventually we'll upgrade but our stuff has been great and is excellent quality.

You have to paint it. I chose a offwhite w/semi gloss someone returned a custom color at home depot (got to love that find) $4.79 for the gallon.![]()
Lightly sand each coat and start again each time using mineral spirits
- 3 x to be exact.
Than I used 1 coat of a clear tea stain by Ralph Lauren for the distressed older look.
Next up is sanding it again to pull off some paint in the cracks and marks that got filled in by the offwhite paint.
I used a beer can opener to create more detail of distress.
Wipe down w/towel and Mineral spirits. change to a #0 sandpaper for pits and use a water based polyurethane 3 x.
FYI- Oil base poly will yellow the off white.
All in all not as easy as it appears. After you keep doing it you get the hang of it.
Over all project $15 and my labor![]()
That sounds time-consuming!!! I hope to do somthing similar with craigslist finds - but only on like a random night table for a guest bedroom!!
Thank you for posting the instructions!!
Not so bad about 6 days total . I left it I got lazy in btwn.
I have tacked much more time consuming projects like my bedroom amoure![]()
![]()
That was close to a 2 month project!
