Wedding Book Recommendations?
I was in Barnes and Noble last night and was overwhelmed with all the wedding books. I feel like there is so much I need to learn in such a short amount of time. Any suggestions of books that were particularly helpful would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
I had bought two organizers and returned them both, becasue there were things I didn't like about each one, and then my SIL bought me a soft cover one with a red cover with a gigantic bridal party on the cover. I can't remember the name, and of course I don't have it with me. They might have a new version of it though.THis book had pockets that were big enough for a normal sheet of paper in the back, and the book had tabs.
I will try and get FH to give me the name over the phone.

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
The book I bought was easy wedding planning Plus - I love it. Gives you budgets, traditions, folders and even full color pictures of all types of flowers (since I dont know a rose from a lily) and tons of advice! It's great!

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
I agree Marcella .... they cost alot & are not very practical. A three ring binder will do you very nicely!

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
I guess what I mean is more of the books like 'Weddings for Dummies' and the like...texts with guidance and advice. My best friend got me a binder set to get organized - but looking at all of the content in the magazines I've read and the sites I've visited it is just overwhelming. I'm really looking for a few texts that I can read to get a sense of what I should be looking for in each vendor, answers to ettiquite questions, etc...

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
I agree with Marcella - when I first got engaged, people bought me all sorts of books (inclusing my FI) but they weren't practical.I bought a really nice binder that held photos, took out all the photo sleeves, added dividers, tabs and inserts all thanks to Staples. I catagorized the binder into sections - ie. Ceremony, Reception, Wedding Attire, Transportation/Lodging, Honeymoon, Photographer, Florist, etc. It was much more practical since I could organize it into my own categories and then when I cut stuff out of magazines, I three-holed punched it andn put in the cooresponding slots- more fun and way more personalized. good luck!
just read you last post - I found The Knot's book the most helpful with checklists on what to ask your photog, flosits, ect. Most of those checklists you can get from their web site as well.

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
My friend got me the knot wedding planner- and although it is helpful to an extent I feel a lot of it is not relevant to a ny/li wedding. I went to the library and borrowed a couple of books like Bridal Bargains etc. I think you find out more info from a mgazine- so maybe buy a subscription to martha stewart weddings and buy Style magazine's wedding editions.

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
I would definitely print out an list. But, I found Bridal Bargains to be extremely helpful!! I also got a nice planner for a keepsake. In there I listed the 'final' choices: bridal party, florist, band, etc.

Re: Wedding Book Recommendations?
I use the Knot Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World as a reference (I recommend this) and bought this planner with a calendar, notes, things to do, pockets, at David's Bridal. The planner is small enough to fit in my pocketbook. I also bought a small accordian pocket folder for contracts and stuff.
