Help with invitation wording and wedding site

I am having my wedding in the garden where I'm having my reception...a couple of my friends said I can't be using 'request the honor of your presence' in my invites if I'm not getting married in a church. Most of the invitation samples I've seen have their weddings in a church. It's just that Most of my guests are travelling from far away (I'm getting married in East Wind in Wading River) and I figured I'd make things easier on everyone if they didn't have to travel from one place to another. I'm planning a private wedding at my church with just my family near the wedding date (it's really complicated but my church is far from Wading River) Any suggestions, anyone?

I have never heard about not being to put request the honor of your presence.

I put that and I am getting married at the reception site.

I worded like a normal invitation then at the bottom I put reception immediately following.

I did request the honour of your presence also and I am getting married at a country club. Everyone told me to do that wording! I would put it in.
