Re: Sign-in platter versus Guest Book

i'm doing the platter.... this way, it's something that will be displayed always & won't be a dust collector in the back of a closet!

Re: Sign-in platter versus Guest Book

I'm not doing either.. I think it's usually a waste, unless you have someone in charge to make sure people sign either or..

BUT

if you had to decide between the 2, I'd go with it for the same reasons LP said AND that I feel that the whole guestbook thing is morbid in a way.. reminds me of those guest books at funerals you sign in..

Re: Sign-in platter versus Guest Book

We will probably do a platter, or a photo mat, as we want to be able to display it after the wedding.

Re: Sign-in platter versus Guest Book

I am not doing either. However if I were too do one it would be the platter. I don't really like the sign in books for the same reason as MarcellaBella (JMO)

Re: Sign-in platter versus Guest Book

guest books are not morbid IMO...guestbooks are very traditional and a very historical way of showing who was in attendance...they are not exclusively for funerals...

I so like the idea of a sign in platter...b/c you can display it...but we chose to do a poloroid guestbook...we asked people in our invites to bring a picture of them and the bride and/or groom to the wedding and put it in the guestbook...for the people that didn't we put a poloroid near the book so that they could take a picture of themselves and include it with their signiture...

although I love the way it turned out...it is sitting on our bookshelf...but I do crack it open every so often to look at the picture people brought/took...

Re: Sign-in platter versus Guest Book

We just got our sign-in platter this weekend. It's easier to display a sign-in platter than a guest book, IMO.
