YAY!! Got our Marriage cert in mail now question...

We just got our original Marriage certificate in the mail (The fancy one you can frame & all), so now what do I need to bring to SS? This, or does something else come in the mail to be counted as the ORIGINAL one?

As for copies, I know you need to snd away for them.

you always need the original...but I think after you go to SS...they'll give you a letter saying you changed your name...but I did it in one day...so I had the marriage cert with me

If you want to frame it...I would order another one...you'll need the original to change your passport still...and possibly other things that need an origianl copy of your name...

None of those places, DMV or SS, kept my certificate, just needed to show them it. I never needed any copies.

I didn't need any copies either. I just showed the original to them and that was it.
My bank took a photocopy to put in their files. And all my credit cards changed my name over the phone.
